... Read moreOh my goodness, I completely feel you on this! Being a sports mom is a whole different ballgame (pun intended!). I remember those days of endless practices, games, and trying to keep up with everything. It’s so easy to feel completely drained when you’re constantly driving kids to the 'green field' for practice or cheering them on in their 'baseball uniforms.' For me, managing energy without relying on coffee or energy drinks was a huge challenge, but I found a few things that really helped. First, hydration is key. It sounds simple, but I noticed a huge difference when I consistently drank water throughout the day. I’d keep a big water bottle by my side, even during those long hours at the 'baseball dugout.' Second, small, frequent, nutritious snacks were a lifesaver. Think fruit, nuts, or a quick protein bar. These kept my blood sugar steady and prevented those energy crashes. And honestly, even just 15-20 minutes of quiet time or a power nap when the kids were at practice felt like hitting the reset button. Sometimes, just sitting by the 'tall, mature trees' near the park and breathing deeply could recharge me. When it came to balancing the insane schedule, I became a master at meal prepping. Sunday afternoons were all about chopping veggies, cooking grains, and making healthy meals that could be quickly assembled during the week. This saved so much mental energy during those chaotic evenings. I also learned to delegate! My partner started taking turns with drop-offs and pick-ups, and even the kids helped with their 'baseball equipment.' Having a shared family calendar (digital or on the fridge) where everyone could see who needed to be where was crucial. This helped us avoid last-minute scrambles. Another game-changer was car organization. I always had a 'dugout' of essentials in the trunk: extra snacks, water, first-aid, blankets, and even a spare uniform. This meant less running back home and more peace of mind. And let's not forget finding YOUR small moments. Even if it was just five minutes to myself while watching my child in their 'catcher or infielder' stance, or a quiet moment looking at the 'shallow water at sunset' after a long day, those little breaks added up. Most importantly, be kind to yourself. You're doing an amazing job. It's okay if not everything is perfect. Connect with other moms at the games – you'll find so much solidarity and practical advice from those who are in the trenches with you. We're all trying to figure it out, and sharing our experiences is how we all get through it!

I think the only thing that keeps me going is know that there will be a break at some point where I can recharge. I have a daughter who went from softball straight to cheerleading season and a son in basketball another son about to do track and one daughter in Girl Scouts. On top of being a blended family.
