When I see beautiful family moments, like everyone gathered in their vibrant, embroidered traditional outfits, smiling and sharing laughter, my heart swells with gratitude. I often find myself saying 'MashaAllah' – acknowledging that these precious blessings are from Allah. It’s in these moments of profound appreciation that I'm reminded of the powerful supplication, 'Allahumma Arzuqni'. For those unfamiliar, 'Allahumma Arzuqni' (اَللّٰهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِيْ) translates to 'O Allah, grant me sustenance/provision.' It’s a simple yet profound dua (prayer) that encompasses all forms of provision from Allah, not just material wealth. When I started incorporating this dua into my daily routine, especially after Fajr and before going to bed, I noticed a shift in my perspective. It wasn't just about wishing for more money, but about recognizing and being grateful for the sustenance I already have, and humbly asking for more of what is good for me. What truly makes this dua special is its comprehensive nature. Sustenance, or 'rizq,' from Allah isn't limited to just financial gain. It includes so much more: good health, peace of mind, loving family, loyal friends, beneficial knowledge, a strong faith, and even moments of pure joy, like those captured in our family photos. Seeing my mother's happy smile in her white traditional outfit, or my daughter beaming in her peach embroidered dress, these are forms of sustenance that money can’t buy. Each person in those images represents a blessing, a form of provision I constantly pray to maintain and cherish. Reciting 'Allahumma Arzuqni' regularly has brought me a deep sense of contentment. It’s a reminder that all provisions come from Allah, and by acknowledging this, I place my trust in Him. It helps alleviate worries about the future, knowing that my Sustainer is always there. I've personally felt a noticeable increase in barakah (blessings) in my time and resources. For instance, I found myself getting more done with less effort, or finding unexpected solutions to problems, which I attribute to the blessings invoked through this dua. It’s a beautiful practice to teach to your children too. When my little one wears her peach and gold outfit, posing for photos, I whisper this dua, praying for her future sustenance in every form. It's about instilling faith and trust in Allah from a young age.
