One Year of Dedication
At the beginning of 2025 I made a goal to start running more consistently again. I used to run and workout a lot but for the last few years I haven't run or worked out as often. I really wanted to get fit again so I started running more often, going to pilates and yoga, and decided to train for a marathon.
It's been tough. A lot of 4am rising to get a run in or to go to a pilates class. There have been many days when I don't feel like going and feel unmotivated. But I pushed myself this year and am so proud of myself!
Today I feel better and stronger! How have your 2025 goals gone? Do you have any 2026 goals?
My goals for 2026 are to train harder and to read more. ❤️
Staying dedicated to fitness over the span of a year truly transforms both body and mind. Many people who embark on a journey to improve their health find that combining different activities like running, pilates, and yoga creates a balanced and sustainable routine. Running is excellent for cardiovascular health and endurance, while pilates strengthens the core and improves flexibility, and yoga promotes mindfulness and recovery. Maintaining motivation, especially when facing early morning workouts such as 4am runs or classes, is often the biggest challenge. Setting realistic yet ambitious goals, like training for a marathon, can help provide structure and a clear purpose. It's normal to have days when energy is low or enthusiasm wanes; overcoming these moments by pushing through builds resilience and leads to long-term fitness success. Reflecting on progress helps in staying motivated. Noticing improvements in strength and energy can boost confidence, making it easier to continue the routine. Setting new goals for the upcoming year—such as training harder or incorporating reading as a mental wellness practice—adds variety and keeps growth holistic. If you’re aiming to improve your own fitness in 2026, consider mixing cardio with strength and flexibility exercises. Joining community challenges or online forums can offer support and inspire consistency. Remember, the journey isn’t just physical but also about cultivating discipline and self-care. Celebrate every milestone, no matter how small, as each step moves you closer to a healthier and happier you.
