More Running

In 2025 I got back into running more consistently. I've started 2026 continuing that goal! One year made a difference in how I feel and I'm so happy at the progress I've made. I ran a 10k this weekend and I got second place in my age group and I was short one minute of my personal record 🥈! I have a marathon at the end of the month which I am both excited and nervous for!

After taking up running more seriously in 2025, I've noticed such an improvement not only in my physical stamina but also in my mental well-being. Running regularly has helped me find a better rhythm in my day and improved my overall mood. One key aspect that helped me stay on track was setting realistic goals and gradually increasing my running distance. When I ran the 10K recently, finishing second in my age group—even though I was just one minute shy of my personal record—felt like a huge achievement. It showed me how dedication over time pays off. As I prepare for a marathon at the end of this month, I’m balancing excitement with nervousness. Marathons require not just endurance but also smart pacing and nutrition strategies, which I’m learning more about every day. Hydration and energy management during long runs have become vital parts of my training. Also, I’ve found that incorporating cross-training activities like strength workouts and yoga helps prevent injuries and keeps me motivated. Rest days are equally important to allow my body to recover. For those thinking about increasing their running consistency or targeting races like a 10K or marathon, I recommend focusing on gradual progress and celebrating every milestone. Using running apps or joining a local running group has made my experience even more rewarding by connecting with others who share similar goals. Overall, the journey to "more running" is as much about mental endurance as it is physical. This ongoing pursuit has taught me valuable lessons about patience, perseverance, and the joy of pushing personal limits.
