Popstar in Training: Day 123 ⭐️
the series where i show you my day to day journey of becoming your new favorite independent artist :)
Okay, so you've seen I'm deep into day 123 of my 'Popstar in Training' journey, and the energy is intense! Getting ready for this debut show feels like a massive leap, especially since my last public performance was way back in high school, playing piano ballads. This isn't just a gig; it's truly my debut as an independent artist, showcasing my own sound. One of the biggest hurdles right now is crafting the perfect set list. It’s not just about picking your favorite songs; it’s about telling a story, building momentum, and keeping the audience engaged. I’ve been thinking about the flow – starting with something catchy to grab attention, maybe a few emotional pieces in the middle, and then ending with a high-energy track that leaves everyone wanting more. For an upcoming show, you also have to consider the venue, the audience, and the overall vibe. Since I'm playing with tracks for now, I'm spending extra time on those live instrumental arrangements to make sure everything sounds polished and dynamic. Then there's the elephant in the room: the nerves! Oh my goodness, the nerves are real. It's one thing to create music in your bedroom, another entirely to stand on a stage and share it with people. I've been trying a few things to manage it – deep breathing exercises, visualizing a successful performance, and just reminding myself why I started this: playing my songs live is what I want to be doing for the rest of my life. It’s a huge step, and it's okay to feel a bit overwhelmed. Every independent artist has been there, facing their own debut. Beyond the music itself, there's so much more to consider for a live performance. What about stage presence? How do you connect with an audience when you're also focused on hitting your cues and making sure the tracks are seamless? I'm watching a lot of videos of performers I admire, trying to pick up tips on crowd interaction and commanding the stage. Even if it's just me and my tracks, I want to create an experience, not just play songs. Thinking about minor visual elements, too, like what I’ll wear or simple lighting cues, can make a big difference. And for anyone else out there on their own 'Popstar in Training' journey, remember that consistency is key. Day 123 means showing up every day, even when it's tough. I told myself 2024 was gonna be the year to just go for it, and ripping off the bandaid feels both terrifying and incredibly liberating. If you're building towards your own upcoming show or just starting out as an independent artist, focus on your craft, believe in your music, and don't be afraid to put yourself out there. The excitement for playing my music live truly outweighs any fear. More news coming soon, but I can't wait to hear what songs you'd all want to hear in person!
