... Read moreFriendships are a foundational part of our lives, but not every person is meant to stay in our inner circle. From my experience, there are certain limits or behaviors that can make it impossible to truly connect or maintain a healthy friendship. For example, respect is crucial—if someone consistently disrespects your feelings or boundaries, it’s a serious red flag. I’ve also realized that trustworthiness and honesty are non-negotiable. When a friend frequently lies or betrays your trust, it creates an environment of insecurity and doubt. Additionally, negativity and constant criticism without support can drain your emotional energy and damage your self-esteem. On the flip side, understanding and mutual support strengthen bonds. Friendships should be reciprocal, where both people feel valued and heard. This means sometimes saying no to friendships that challenge your core values or make you feel uncomfortable. Setting these boundaries isn’t always easy, but it’s essential for your well-being. The hashtag #wecannotbefriends resonates deeply because it highlights the importance of recognizing these dealbreakers early. Sharing your own "we cannot be friends if" moments can be a healthy way to communicate your boundaries and find like-minded people who uplift you. Remember, it’s better to have a few true friends than many superficial ones. Embracing these boundaries helped me cultivate more meaningful and supportive friendships that truly enrich my life.
