Okay. To all the haters:

You can hate me and my review all you want, you can even hate the book for all I care, but you have absolutely NO RIGHT to hate the author. If you do, get the fuck off my page and do not read my review.

Lets jump into it!

Plot:

10/10! CHEFS FUCKING KISS! Ohmygod! I would KILL to reread this book for the first time again! 😫😩🤤 This book gives you EXACTLY what you expect: a beautiful rendition of historical romantasy! While it may not be based of actual fact, it is beautifully clear that our author did her research, and gave us a GORGEOUS story of compassion, love, and redemption!

We meet our two MCs within our prologue and first chapters. Malina, a dancer with her sisters, captures the attention of certain…enemy….a Roman Centurion. After her dance, she is confronted by said enemy, and, to her shock, is handed a gift, and a promise.

Four years later, they meet once again. But this time, its in the midst of battle. Cornered by soldiers, Malina fights with all her strength, but when the odds become stacked heavily against her, a certain someone steps in….

Malina is then swept away in the claws of a dragon! Dropped into a new life with all new people, she must navigate her new lifestyle with caution. Something is stirring…from rebellious activity in other provinces, to uprising under their noses. If the Emperor finds out who it is that despises the Roman Empire enough to rebel, its game over.

Meet Julian. A handsome devil with a literal heart of fucking GOLD. If i ever met the man id be slobbering all over him! 😩😩😩😩 A centurion for his Uncles empire, Julian must play the terrifying role of ColdHearted Conqueror, which he does, to a T! Terrifying, murderous, and absolutely breathtaking, Julian sweeps Malina off into an adventure of her lifetime! TAKE ME WITH YOU PLEASE!

Characters:

A GAZILLION OUTA TEN! Omg! 😱 Juliette put some beautiful thought into creating characters that were both terrifying and intricate! I was sucked in the moment I met Malina and her sisters.

Ive never wanted to claw someone’s eyes out more than I want to claw out Ciprians and the Emperors. FUCK. THEM. BOTH.

Julian…our beautiful hunk of a dragon shifter 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Deadly, stoic, and tragically sexy, Julian embodies the cruelty of ancient Rome, but lives like the most gentle of men. Especially when it comes to Malina…his slave…and fated mate. 🤤

Sweet, strong, fiery Malina….you were the first FMC to teach me that I have what it takes. To go from lowly origins and grow into a gorgeous flower. To take life by the horns and control it. To never let ANYONE stand in your way. You are truly an inspiration to me!

Spice/Romance:

ABSOLUTELY IMMACULATE! Perfection. No complaints. TAKE MY FUCKING MONEY FOR THE SEQUEL. I NEED IT. The fucking chemistry they had from the first moment they met to the last, this romance was everything I needed!!! Literally SCREAMING AND KICKING MY FEET!

The romance and chemistry between our MCs was so tragically AMAZING! They go beyond “slave and master”, especially SINCE THERE IS NOT ONE SINGLE INSTANCE THAT JULIAN USES HER FOR ANYTHING REMOTELY RELATED TO ACTUAL SLAVERY. IDK WHERE THE ACTUAL FUCK YOU GOT THAT IDEA FROM 😒🙄😑

𝐈 𝐅𝐔𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐓:

𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐎𝐄𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐒 𝐀 𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐕𝐄. 𝐈𝐓 𝐈𝐒 𝐀 𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐋𝐄. 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓. 𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐎𝐄𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐂𝐇 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐈𝐍 𝐖𝐀𝐘. 𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐒 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐒 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐀 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐄𝐍. STFU. STFD.

Anyways. I fell so deeply in love with their story from start to finish! I would KILL to read this book again for the first time!

HOT CHARACTERS AND FORBIDDEN LOVE?!?!? 🤤🤤😍😍😍😍😍

𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬?! 🥰😍🤗🤗🥴

GIVE IT TO ME

Personal Note:

I dove into this book because of all the negativity surrounding it. While yes, I understand where it’s coming from, it still does not give you the right to openly criticize and pour hatred into the hard work of someone who clearly loves their craft.

I am Russian. But you do not see me boycotting the fact that there are SO MANY BOOKS WITH THE RUSSIAN MAFIA OUT THERE BECAUSE ITS “MISREPRESENTING” MY LIFE OR MY “ORIGINS”!

GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK!

Blood, sweat and tears were poured into this work of art and instead of appreciating that effort, you decided to tear it down and burn it. Whatever gives you the right???

“Im romani”- imma back and QUOTE “I chose to use the LANGUAGE of the Romani people”, not “i used the Romani people” , and again, Im Russian. Go back up to read that :) she did not use ANYTHING related to Romania EXCEPT FOR YOUR LANGUAGE.

“She misrepresents my people”- imma say “i used CREATIVE LICENSE to serve the story” AGAIN: I AM RUSSIAN. YET I DO NOT HATE AUTHORS WHO WRITE RUSSIAN MAFIA BOOKS.

“She openly supports the idea of slavery”- i repeat: “LIKE HISTORICAL ROME, they use their power to enslave” and “THIS BOOK IS INSPIRED BY ANCIENT ROME.”

“The book was advertised wrong!” - since when has that been a problem? A LOT of books out there dont tell you explicit detail on whatever the content is.

Look… I cannot emphasize this enough:

When an author gives you an Authors Note, that specifically says: “this is meant to be a REIMAGINING, not based on actual history” it means the story IS COMPLETELY creative! There may be references to certain history, but that does not mean the author was purposely misleading you.

All it means is that she did her research, she understands the context of which she puts behind her book, and she used her CREATIVE LICENSE AND FREEDOM TO DO SO!

Final overview:

If you want an emotionally charged, beautifully crafted, and strong plot, this is the book for you. From fiery characters and special connections, from terrifying Emperors to sultry Prefects, and danger in every direction, you’ll need to hang on tight for this roller coaster of an adventure!!

Magic, Dragon Shifters, Fated Mates and Dastardly Plots, Firebird is a fantastic book to read if you want unending twists and adventures!
