Things I Refuse To Normalize

Should I keep adding to this list? Be honest 😭

Funny but also very serious

2/4 Edited to

... Read moreIn today's society, it's increasingly important to recognize and establish personal boundaries that protect our well-being and future. Refusing to normalize harmful or limiting situations—such as getting pregnant while financially unstable, remaining in poverty without action, or staying in unfulfilling relationships—is crucial for personal growth and happiness. From my experience, maintaining clear goals and refusing to compromise them for short-term comfort or societal pressure has been transformative. For instance, prioritizing financial independence has helped me avoid situations where I felt trapped or dependent. Additionally, refusing to accept living conditions or relationships that do not contribute to overall well-being empowers us to strive for better. It's not about judgment but about recognizing self-worth and making choices that align with our values. Many people normalize stress and sacrifice in love or family life, but breaking this cycle allows for healthier relationships and personal fulfillment. Remember, setting boundaries like not accepting 'being a baby mama' without support or not sacrificing your dreams for love is a way of honoring yourself. These choices encourage us to plan intentionally, seek growth opportunities, and foster connections that uplift rather than drag us down. By openly discussing what we refuse to normalize, we create communities supporting better decisions and healthier futures.

Things I refuse to normalize as a Gen X woman anymore.
Gen X women were raised to be independent, low maintenance, and resilient. But chronic stress, perfectionism, and hyper-independence can become nervous system patterns that keep us stuck. Trauma-informed somatic tools help midlife women regulate, soften, and build true confidence without burnout.

Not everyone wants a traditional relationship, and that’s okay. Loving more than one person doesn’t mean lying or cheating — it means honesty, consent, and emotional openness. Let’s STOP treating different love structures as “weird” or “wrong” and start respecting how people choose to connect. ❤️
