... Read moreI want to share how frustrating and isolating it can feel when you say things like, "the school NEVER LISTENS" or "they didn’t listen to me!" For anyone who has experienced this, it’s almost like you’re shouting into a void, hoping someone, anyone, really understands and will stand by you. In my own experience, even when counselors are supposed to help, it sometimes feels like they don’t truly hear what you’re trying to say. This disconnect can cause a lot of pain, and it often leaves you questioning whether anyone truly cares or believes you. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking, "you don’t understand," or told someone, "I do," you know how vital it is to be validated. Even when people say, "you don’t know that," deep down, you know your own feelings and experiences are real and significant. One thing I’ve learned is that while the system may seem unresponsive, seeking out a trusted friend, teacher, or support group can make a difference. Sometimes, it’s not about the official counselors but about finding someone who genuinely listens without judgment. For others struggling with similar feelings of being unheard or dismissed, don’t give up on finding your voice. Your experiences matter, and finding support, whether through friends, family, or mental health resources, can open doors to healing and understanding. Remember, you are not alone, and your feelings are valid.
