... Read moreYou know that feeling when your room becomes a black hole of belongings? That was me, just last week! My 'clean my room with me' adventure started not just because I wanted a tidy space, but because my messy home was seriously affecting my mood. Every corner was piled high with clothes, boxes, and random items, making it hard to even walk, let alone relax.
Looking at the 'before' pictures (or the state of my floor, which was completely hidden!), felt overwhelming. It was a true cluttered room. But I decided enough was enough. My goal for organizing my room with me was simple: reclaim my space and create a sanctuary. I put on some music (hence the 🎧🎸 vibe!) and braced myself for the challenge.
I started with the biggest offender: the floor. It was covered with various items – plastic bags, old jars, forgotten clothes. I used a simple strategy: grab a few bags and sort everything into 'keep,' 'donate/sell,' 'trash,' and 'relocate.' This is where things like those stray stuffed animals and even my acoustic guitar, which was leaned against a pile of things, found their proper homes or got designated for a clean-up. The black suitcase mentioned in the images? That was a central dumping ground for a while! Getting that sorted was a huge win, freeing up so much floor space.
Next up, clothes. So many clothes! It took a while, but folding them properly and putting them away, or deciding what really needed to go, made an immense difference. Investing in some simple organizers for drawers or shelves made a big impact too. I found myself unearthing items from long-forgotten bags, which was a task in itself! Seeing clothes neatly folded and stacked next to the bed was incredibly satisfying.
My brain (and body) definitely needed a break. The 'food break cause my mama got home' was a lifesaver! It's so easy to get overwhelmed during a big clean-up of a messy home. I learned that stepping away for a bit, even just for 15 minutes, helps you come back with fresh eyes and renewed energy. Don't underestimate the power of a good snack and a moment to breathe!
Finally, seeing my tidier room, with the floor visible and things like boxes, bags, and containers neatly arranged, was incredibly satisfying. Even making the bed (which I totally forgot to take a 'before' of, oops!) made the whole room feel complete, especially with the blue lights making it cozy. Now, the challenge is maintaining it. My new rule: if it takes less than 2 minutes, do it immediately. Put that cup away, hang up that jacket. It makes a huge difference in keeping my organized space from returning to a cluttered room.
If you're staring at your own messy home, feeling daunted, I hope my 'organize my room with me' journey inspires you. Start small, be patient, and celebrate every little win. It's totally worth it for the peace of mind an organized space brings!
