Yeah, putting a diesel powerhouse from a much newer truck into a classic '54 Chevy might sound wild, but the performance and durability it offers are unmatched, giving this vintage beauty a heart that can keep up with today's roads. The final touch, and arguably the most eye-catching, was integrating a full hydraulic suspension system. For a shorty, having the ability to adjust the ride height on the fly is a game-changer. I went with a setup that includes heavy-duty pumps, chrome cylinders, and a custom switch panel. Installing shorty's hydraulics wasn't just about bolting on parts; it was about meticulously running lines, wiring switches, and ensuring every component worked flawlessly to give me that show-stopping drop or a comfortable cruise height.
