One-Pot Cajun Chicken Alfredo Orzo

Creamy Cajun-Spiced Chicken Orzo Alfredo in One Pot

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon butter

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced

2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning

Salt and pepper, to taste

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 small yellow onion, diced

1 1/2 cups dry orzo pasta

2 1/4 cups chicken broth

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for added depth)

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Directions:

Heat olive oil and butter in a large deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Season diced chicken with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Add to the pan and sear until browned and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.

In the same pan, add garlic and onion. Cook for 2–3 minutes until fragrant and translucent.

Add dry orzo and toast for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly.

Pour in chicken broth and bring to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender.

Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes (if using). Return cooked chicken to the pot and mix well until creamy and thickened, about 2–3 minutes.

Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan if desired. Serve hot.

... Read moreOne-Pot Cajun Chicken Alfredo Orzo is a fantastic recipe that blends the creamy richness of Alfredo sauce with the bold, smoky flavors of Cajun seasoning. This dish offers a perfect balance of textures and spices, making it a comforting yet exciting meal option. Orzo pasta, a rice-shaped pasta, cooks quickly and absorbs flavors beautifully, which makes it an ideal base for one-pot meals. By toasting the orzo in olive oil and butter initially, you enhance its nutty flavor and prevent sticking during cooking. Using chicken broth to simmer the orzo adds a savory depth, making every bite full of taste. Cajun seasoning typically includes a blend of paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and thyme, which brings a spicy and aromatic kick to the chicken. Incorporating smoked paprika and optional red pepper flakes intensifies the smoky and spicy notes, appealing to those who enjoy a little heat in their meals. Heavy cream and Parmesan cheese create a lush, creamy sauce that clings perfectly to both chicken and orzo, adding richness and a velvety texture. This combination mimics the classic Alfredo sauce but with a spicy twist, elevating the traditional pasta dish to something unique and flavorful. This recipe is convenient because it requires only one pot or skillet, minimizing cleanup and making it ideal for busy weeknights when you want delicious food with minimal fuss. The total preparation and cooking time of about 30 minutes allows you to enjoy a hearty, homemade meal without spending hours in the kitchen. To add freshness and color, a garnish of chopped parsley provides a bright herbal contrast, balancing the richness and complementing the spicy Cajun flavors. You can also customize the dish by adding vegetables such as bell peppers, spinach, or mushrooms during the garlic and onion sauté step for extra nutrition and texture. Overall, One-Pot Cajun Chicken Alfredo Orzo is a versatile, crowd-pleasing recipe that combines creamy comfort food elements with bold, Southern-inspired spices. It’s perfect for anyone seeking an easy, flavorful dinner option that can be prepared quickly with simple ingredients.
