SURPRISING MY DAD WITH HIS FIRST ROLEX THIS XMAS

My family didn’t grow up rich, instead, there are months where we struggled to pay the bills, and back then, I used to get envious of the people around me being able to afford the latest gadgets and toys.

As I grew older, I realised that although we didn’t have a lot, what I did have was unconditional love from my parents.

My dad works in the tour industry line, and he’s rarely present, most of the times he’s back, it’s when I’m asleep and sometimes, he would be gone for up to a week. Being young and naive, I couldn’t understand why, and my dad always told me to study hard so I don’t end up like him. But well, I’m not book smart, and somehow, I ended up becoming a content creator.

When I gotten my first Rolex last year, I was definitely happy, but that happiness was fleeting and instead, I gave myself a goal, I wanted to give back to my parents, my dad, a Rolex, for all the years he spent sacrificing to raise me and to put food on the table.

Fast-forward to today, now that I’m in the media line of work, funny how I ended up working odd hours as well, and I finally understood the hardship he had to go through as he supported the family, putting us first.

When I first became a creator, dabbling in the media line, lots of people were laughing at me and judging me, telling me that unless I shoot up big, there’s no way I’m able to make a living out of it, but my parents were the first to support me fully telling me that as long as I’m happy and give my all, that’s all that matters.

Sure, I’m just an everyday creator, but that also means I got to work 1000x harder, pick up skillsets along the way to be able to monetise it and earn a living, and I’m glad all the hard work paid off, for all the brands, partners and clients that put their trust in me, a big thank you, because without it, I don’t think I’ll be where I’m at today.

... Read moreReflecting on my journey, what stood out the most was my dad's constant sacrifice and dedication to our family, even though he rarely got to enjoy the finer things he loved, like luxury watches. His old Seiko mod watch, a humble tribute to his taste, was something I always noticed. I remember one moment when I asked him why he never bought a 'real' Rolex, and his simple answer made me realize how much he prioritized us over himself. I also want to share that getting a Rolex, especially a Sea-Dweller, is more than a purchase—it’s about the story and meaning behind the gift. Through my experience working odd hours and facing the doubts of others when I chose to become a content creator, I understood the value of pursuing passion and hard work. My dad’s encouragement was a constant motivation. It’s important for anyone aiming to gift something special to a parent who’s been their pillar to recognize what truly matters—the love and history that the gift represents, not just the price tag. For those interested in watches, particularly Rolex, authentication is key if you want to gift something genuine and lasting. It’s worth learning how to authenticate a Rolex without papers, and understanding the significance of models like the Sea-Dweller and Daytona could add an extra layer of meaning. Most of all, this experience taught me the power of gratitude and how sometimes we’re naive about what our parents endure. If you’re considering a meaningful gift for the holidays, think about what your parents sacrifice daily for your happiness and wellbeing. That awareness makes any gift, especially one as special as a Rolex, a heartfelt tribute to that love. I wish everyone could feel the joy of surprising a loved one with something that honors their sacrifices.

Getting my dream rolex combi
Sharing another rolex story today. Started our journey with a thai SA this year unexpectedly. I have wishlist for this earlier this year. Ideally i would like a 36 but as per what she shared with me, 36 required a long journey of profile building. 31 would somewhat be a little easier.
