Lets talk about the tiktok ban
with tiktok becoming banned in the U.S. it's taking away so many peoples jobs, especially artists. as someone who is an artist and used tiktok as my main social media, it's hard finding something that's good enough to use, thays easy, popular, and doesn't use ai. instagram isn't a photo sharing app anymore and scrapes all it's posts to feed to ai, so I cannot use thay, not to mention the algorithm only shows popular posts so its IMPOSSIBLE to get stuff out. I used tiktok to make money off of my work, and now that it's becoming banned, it's hard. What do you think I should do about this? #dontbantiktok #unfiltered
The recent discussions around the TikTok ban highlight significant challenges faced by artists who depended on the platform for showcasing their work and earning income. TikTok has been a popular medium for many creatives and influencers, offering unique engagement opportunities and revenue through sponsorships and brand partnerships. As an artist, transitioning to new platforms can be daunting due to algorithm complexities and competitive content. Notably, platforms like Instagram have shifted their focus to algorithm-driven content, often favoring established creators over new or lesser-known artists, making it difficult for newcomers to gain visibility. With the potential ban in place, many are left contemplating the viability of alternative platforms. Other social media networks could fill the void left by TikTok, but they come with challenges. Creatives might consider platforms like YouTube Shorts or Snapchat Spotlight, which also emphasize short-form video content. However, the monetization aspect varies across platforms, and many might not provide the same level of financial return as TikTok offered. For artists, it’s essential to explore how to diversify their presence across multiple platforms while retaining their unique style and audience engagement. Community support and collaboration through hashtags like #dontbantiktok can enhance visibility and nurture connections among fellow artists. Moreover, staying updated on the landscape of social media and its evolving nature is vital for leveraging emerging platforms that could benefit creativity and income generation.
