The memorial not only honors a visionary leader but also serves as a powerful reminder of the work that remains to be done. It encourages us to look inward and examine the divisions that still divide communities today. Last year’s events, including the tragic loss of individuals due to systemic issues, reminded me deeply of the struggles that Martin Luther King Jr. spoke about—inequality, racial injustice, and the lack of vision towards a united future. The phrase “the power is in the people” resonates more than ever, but it challenges us to ask: is our collective power being used to unite or divide? From personal experience, I have seen how quick people can be to judge others based on superficial differences rather than embracing love and understanding. This tendency only perpetuates conflict and hinders progress. Standing at the memorial, I felt encouraged to commit more strongly to fostering empathy and dialogue in my own community. Moreover, the memorial’s words and symbolisms remind us that leadership is about more than holding a position—it is about serving with skill, compassion, and justice. Recent events involving poorly skilled leadership that harms lives are deeply troubling, standing in stark contrast to MLK’s vision. Reflecting on these realities motivates me to contribute positively wherever I can, advocating for training, awareness, and action that aligns with peaceful values. It’s crucial for everyone to rethink what we are conserving or defending in society—are we promoting division and judgment, or are we working towards a future where love and justice prevail? The memorial, the stories it tells, and the questions it raises remain as relevant today as ever. Each visit is a call to personal and collective action, inspiring hope and reminding us that true power lies in unity and relentless pursuit of justice.

Does anybody else love home decor stores?! Because I’m obsessed! If you ask me what my favorite “me” time is, it’s wandering through Barnes & Noble to find a new book or two, then finding a couple home decor stores to get lost in as well. 🥰 At Home was so quiet and peaceful this morning and I f
