Hey beautiful fitness queens! I wanted to dive a little deeper into something that changed my entire outlook on health and fitness: the idea that it’s truly *you vs. you*. As a 'fitness girl' myself, I’ve been there – scrolling through feeds, seeing seemingly perfect physiques, and feeling that familiar pang of doubt or inadequacy. It’s so easy to fall into the comparison trap, isn't it? But let me tell you, that path leads nowhere good. I learned the hard way that 'comparison is the thief of joy,' and it robs you of the excitement and pride in your own hard work. How many times have you felt amazing after a workout, only to see someone else’s 'perfect' body online and suddenly feel like your efforts aren't enough? That feeling is exactly what we need to fight against. What I've realized is that when you look at someone else's incredible results – whether it's their toned abs, their ability to lift heavy, or their seemingly endless energy – you're only seeing the tip of the iceberg. You truly don't know what it took for them to get to where they are. We don't see their spiritual journey, their mental battles, their physical limitations they’ve overcome, their emotional resilience, or even their financial situation that might afford them more resources. Everyone's starting line is different, and so is their race. Their visible progress is just a product of immense discipline, sacrifice, and consistency over a long, often unseen, period. It’s what one of my mentors called ‘being bulletproof’ – developing an inner fortitude that withstands external pressures. So, when someone says, 'You don't know what it took for me to get here,' believe them! It’s a powerful reminder that their journey is uniquely theirs, just as yours is uniquely yours. So, how do we become 'bulletproof' in our own fitness journey? Here are a few things that have helped me: Define YOUR Marathon: What does 'fitness' mean to *you*? Is it being able to run a 5k, feel stronger, have more energy, or simply move without pain? Your goals should resonate with your personal values, not someone else's highlight reel. Track Your Own Progress, Not Others': Ditch the endless scrolling for a bit. Instead, keep a journal of your workouts, your energy levels, your mood, and how your clothes fit. Celebrate those small, consistent improvements. Maybe last week you did 5 push-ups, and this week you did 6! That’s a win! Embrace Imperfection: There will be off days, missed workouts, and moments of doubt. That's part of being human. A 'bulletproof' mindset isn't about being perfect; it's about consistent effort and getting back on track, even after a stumble. Find Your Tribe (But Stay Focused on Yourself): Surround yourself with people who uplift and motivate you, but remember their journey isn't yours. Use their success as inspiration, not a yardstick for your self-worth. Practice Gratitude: Be thankful for what your body can do today. This shifts your focus from what you lack to what you possess, fostering a more positive and sustainable relationship with your fitness journey. Remember, your health and wellness journey is a deeply personal endeavor. It's not a sprint against others; it's a marathon against your past self, constantly striving to be better, stronger, and happier. Be kind to yourself, stay locked in on your unique path, and embrace the incredible power of running your own marathon. You've got this, queen!
