Life keeps changing ❤️

I honestly hope she’s happy in her new place with her new man.
As much as it hurts to admit, that’s the life she chose.
I don’t have to like it.
I just have to live with it.
Most people think I’m cold, but with her I never could be. Her voice alone could put me in my place. I still don’t know why.
People tell me I built lies for myself. Maybe I did. Maybe I didn’t. I honestly don’t know anymore.
My mother’s side taught me how to survive with nothing. My father’s side taught me that money fixes everything. Turns out neither of them knew what to do when your heart gives out.
I’m glad I spent those seven years with her.
I’d probably be a much worse man if I hadn’t.
She changed me in ways I didn’t even realize until she was gone.
Some of those changes made me better.
Some of them left scars I’ll probably carry for the rest of my life.
I know cheating on Syd was wrong.
I’ll carry that with me forever.
I remember it every day.
I still don’t know if she ever truly stopped loving me, or if she just finally stopped believing I could become the man she hoped I’d be.
Maybe it doesn’t matter anymore.
Life keeps moving whether I’m ready or not.
I’ve learned that the hard way.
I’ve reached a point where I know my mind can go to dark places, but I also know I don’t want to make a decision I can never take back.
Life’s too short for that.
I’ve seen enough to know tomorrow isn’t promised.
So I’m going to keep living.
I’m going to build that farmhouse we used to talk about.
I’m going to keep spoiling my dog.
Maybe I’ll get that Chow Chow one day just because I always wanted one.
I’ll travel.
I’ll make more memories.
I’ll keep trying to become someone I can look at in the mirror without turning away.
Will I stop loving her?
Honestly…
I don’t know.
Maybe love like that doesn’t disappear.
Maybe it just gets quieter.
Maybe one day she’ll just become another chapter instead of the whole story.
I hope she’s happy.
I hope she found the peace both of us were looking for.
As for me…
I’m still searching for mine.
And maybe that’s okay.
Because for the first time in a long time, I’m not searching for her anymore.
I’m searching for myself.
If I ever find that version of me again, I hope he’d be someone she’d be proud to have known.
Even if we never speak another word.
Seven years meant something to me.
They always will.
Thank you.
Getting over someone you once loved deeply is a complex and often painful process, as reflected in the poignant expression "getting over you you stopped saying goodnight and I stopped sleeping." This statement captures the nights filled with silence, the sudden void when communication ceases, and the restless mind struggling to find peace. In my own experience, coping with the end of a significant relationship meant confronting the quiet moments that once held warmth but now echoed with emptiness. Like the author, I wrestled with feelings of loss, the weight of mistakes, and the longing to reconnect with a former self who might have been more whole or understood. What helped me most was the realization that life constantly changes, and healing is not about forgetting but about learning to live with those changes. Embracing new routines, such as caring for a pet or pursuing long-held dreams like travel or building a home, can provide tangible anchors during emotional storms. These acts foster a sense of purpose and gradually rebuild confidence. Moreover, forgiveness—both toward others and oneself—is crucial. Acknowledging past errors, such as infidelity or misunderstandings, without allowing them to define your worth is a step toward inner peace. It’s important, as the poem suggests, to keep striving to become someone who can be met in the mirror with compassion. Finally, moving forward doesn't mean erasing the past but honoring it as part of your story. Relationships and experiences shape us, leaving behind scars and memories that contribute to our growth. The quiet love that lingers is not a prison but a chapter that teaches us about resilience and the power of self-discovery. In summary, the journey of healing after loss is marked by moments of darkness and light. Choosing to live intentionally, hold onto hope, and seek one’s own peace ultimately leads to a renewed sense of self and the possibility of happiness beyond heartache.
