everything i did for my 21st 🍰ྀི⋆˙⟡

hey zesties! i turned 21 last august and i had a simple small gathering so if your (or loved one’s) birthday is coming up and you’d like to plan something but don’t know where to start, i got u!!

📍: one of the first things i checked off the list was the location and thankfully, my bf knows the owner of The Coup Bar. i also felt like this bar was cozy and perfectly sized for the number of people i invited (about 10 pax). this is perfect if you’re looking for a place that’s intimate but don’t want to book out a whole space. we paid for food and drinks and total for 10 people was about $800 iirc…

🎂: ordered my cake from ig: thesugarbar_sg and it came out so pretty and exactly like what i asked for! i chose 6” + 4” 3L heart cake and it was more than enough for everyone. the total for this was $113!

🍪: i needed a small door gift for the attendees so i ordered sugar cookies from ig: qithe.s_ ! she’s actually a friend from secondary school and she’s really talented :3 i asked for miffy sugar cookies because i love miffy and they turned out sooooo cute and so delicious….. i paid $35.25 for 15 cookies!

🎈: got some balloons from shopee to decorate the corner a little and total was <$15!

💅: press-ons from the one and only nail girl i trust in sg…… i have to make a separate post for all the nails she did for me because she is so insanely talented wow and its $48 only with all the kits included!!

💌: i made an e-invitation letter on canva, so many cute templates to choose from hehe… sent them out to my friends i invited about 2-3 weeks before the date!

shoutout to the bf who got the flowers, planned and ordered and paid for everything… i am so thankful hehehe

that’s about it! i hope this post helped you in some way if you’re looking to plan one soon and all the best 💞

... Read morePlanning a small, memorable 21st birthday celebration can feel overwhelming at first, but breaking it down into manageable parts really helps. From my experience, choosing the right venue is key—The Coup Bar at Ann Siang Hill was ideal because it offered a cozy atmosphere without the need to reserve a large, pricey space. It fit roughly 10 people perfectly, making the occasion intimate and personal. When it comes to the cake, I highly recommend supporting local bakers like @thesugarbar_sg on Instagram. Custom cakes can be both beautiful and tailored to your tastes without breaking the bank. I went with a layered heart-shaped cake that served everyone comfortably. Also, personalized door gifts add a thoughtful touch; I chose sugar cookies decorated with my favorite character Miffy from a talented friend, which doubled as lovely mementos for guests. Decorations don’t need to be extravagant. Simple balloon sets from Shopee (under $15) helped create a festive corner without overwhelming the space. Adding small details like press-on nails from trusted local artists can boost your confidence and enhance your look for the event, and they’re more affordable than you might think. Digital invitations made via Canva are an easy, creative, and eco-friendly way to invite friends well in advance, ensuring good attendance. Don’t underestimate the value of having loved ones help with planning and surprises; my boyfriend’s support with flowers and arrangements made the day even more special. If you’re planning a similar celebration, prioritize personal touches and manageable guest numbers. Keep costs transparent by setting a budget for each aspect—venue, food and drinks, cake, decor, and little extras. Most importantly, focus on creating a warm atmosphere where you and your guests can enjoy the moment. This kind of celebration is truly about connection, memories, and celebrating milestones with close friends and family.

A cosy café located in Outram with a nice ambience, though it’s definitely on the pricier side. Must order: the fries! 🍟 They’re generously coated with cheesy goodness and packed with flavour. It can get a little jelak after a while, so I recommend dipping them in ketchup to balance the richness
