third time staying in this jb hotel 🏃♀️
finally writing abt my fav hotel in jb after my recent third visit, z hotel! it usually costs abt $50~/night for a king room 🫡
pros:
— walkable from city sq mall/customs!
— walkable to bfast places, cafes, and vintage shops! ☕️☕️ we usually walk to dona bakehouse / roast & coffee for bfast! hiap joo bakery is also right beside which is perfect to get souvenirs before heading back to sg! also a walking distance to cafes like offee & flowers in the window etc. 🫶🏻
— has facilities like a gym & pool! 🏊💪🏻 i havent been to the pool but the gym is p good for a small hotel! has free weights, treadmills, leg press, lat pull machines etc.
— room is super spacious & i can leave my stuff everywhere 🤓🤓
— tv right infront of the bed!!! able to watch netflix/youtube etc. which is vv impt to me if i wna relax at night 🧖♀️🧖♀️ we usually dabs dinner back to watch netflix while eating from the comfort of our room 📺
cons:
— hotel allows smoking so you might smell a faint cigarette smell walking through the hallway! dependent on your luck tho bc i didnt smell it my first two visits but only on the third i think the room beside ours was smoking so we cld smell it 🥲 the staff were rly responsive tho we called the reception and they immediately came up w air fresheners to spray the room!
things to note:
— hotel requires 100rm deposit upon checking in so highly recommend to bring extra cash so they can refund u immediately when checking out! 💸

other jb recs:
One aspect I truly appreciate about Z Hotel is its convenient proximity to Jalan Wong Ah Fook, making it ideal not only for leisure travelers but also for those who want to explore local shopping and dining options without hassle. Walking to nearby breakfast spots like Dona Bakehouse and Hiap Joo Bakery adds an authentic JB experience, perfect for anyone who enjoys discovering local flavors. For fitness enthusiasts, the hotel's gym facilities are surprisingly comprehensive given its boutique size. Having access to free weights, treadmills, and various machines means I can keep up with my workout routines even while traveling. While the hotel does allow smoking, which could affect scent in the hallways or adjacent rooms, their staff is notably responsive and quick to offer solutions such as air fresheners. Bringing extra RM100 for the refundable deposit was an important tip I learned after my first visit. Booking tips: I recently used a promo code for discounts on Klook bookings, which made my stay even better value. This hotel balances comfort, location, and affordability, making it a solid choice for travelers visiting Johor Bahru who value both convenience and local charm.
