Army Commander Visits Suranaree Task Force, Inspects Phu Makuea Base and Joint River Patrols, Emphasizes Troop Safety

General Phana Klaoplodthuk, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army and Director of the Army Operations Center, together with senior army commanders, visited and inspected military units operating along the northeastern border from 22–23 August 2025. He was welcomed by Lieutenant General Boonsin Padklang, Commander of the 2nd Army Area and Director of the 2nd Army Area Operations Center.

On 22 August 2025, the Army Commander visited Phu Makuea Base, Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, to encourage troops and follow up on security enhancement missions in the border area. He expressed gratitude for their sacrifice and dedication in carrying out this important mission under high risk and pressure. He urged troops to remain vigilant, strictly adhere to safety measures, maintain discipline, and exercise patience in all situations. Commanders at all levels were instructed to take care of their subordinates and request additional support through the chain of command when necessary. He also emphasized the importance of closely monitoring intelligence updates in order to adapt operational plans in line with evolving situations.

On 23 August 2025, General Phana received a briefing from Major General Narong Phaksdisupphon, Director of Suranaree Camp Hospital and Chief Medical Officer of the 2nd Army Area, on the army medical services supporting the mission of “force preservation.” This includes health promotion, medical evacuation, treatment of sick and injured soldiers, and the recent deployment of M-MCATT (Mobile Mental Health Crisis Assessment and Treatment Teams) to assess and provide psychological support for troops deployed along the Thai–Cambodian border, as well as bereaved families and displaced civilians. The Army Commander praised the medical corps for their comprehensive support in maintaining the health and readiness of the troops, and instructed them to sustain continuous field visits and regularly rehearse medical operation plans to ensure standard responses despite time and terrain constraints, while prioritizing the safety of all personnel.
