Construction must strictly follow the Building Control Act with the following main guidelines:

Evacuation Routes:

There must be at least 2 separate fire exits.

Do not lock the key. The door must only be pushed open outward (Panic Bar).

Obstructions are prohibited to the corridor and fire escape doors [1, 2, 3].

Materials and structural design:

Building structures must be fireproof by engineering standards.

Walls, ceilings and sound insulation require non-combustible materials.

Reduce the use of curtains or carpets that are easily combustible in large quantities. [1]

Smoke prevention and venting system:

Smoke drainage and fire control systems must be installed, to prevent the accumulation of toxic fumes and Backdraft phenomena.

There is a fire alarm system that operates automatically [1, 2, 3].

Lighting and fire equipment:

Emergency lighting and exit signposts are required that are clearly visible despite the blackout.

Install fire extinguishers in easy pick-up points and cover areas [1, 2, 3].
