To reuse a zip tie, gently pull the tab away from the pawl—the small locking tooth inside the tie’s head—while sliding a thin tool like a small flathead screwdriver or a safety pin inside the locking area. This releases the pawl’s grip and allows you to open and reuse the zip tie without damaging it. I’ve applied this method multiple times on job sites, and it’s amazing how many zip ties I’ve been able to save from waste.
