Girls talk: owning a truck as a girl

So, currently I am 20, but Iโ€™ve had this truck since I was 14. It was my dream vehicle I always wanted when I was younger and is still my dream vehicle today lol. I learned to drive in this truck and itโ€™s been a part of, what I feel like, were the most important stages in my life; getting my drivers permit in it, my license, going to high school, proms, graduating class parade, college, college graduation, i even got proposed to with my truck involved๐Ÿ˜†, I could go on and onโ€ฆ. BUT I wanna clear up the air here. If your a girl and want a truckโ€ฆ go for it!! Butโ€ฆ also be prepared for the looks youโ€™ll get, especially when you hit a curb. Whoopsies. Even the best drivers hit curbs sometimes so it is what it is bwahaha. Youโ€™ll also hear the rumors that you โ€œdid it for attention.โ€ But letโ€™s be honest. Iโ€™m not spending my money on this truck to make yโ€™all give me attention, no I just like shiny things๐Ÿคฃ. I would also recommend, if you have the resources ofc, try to learn a little about your truck! No matter what vehicle you have I think everyone should at least know how to change the oil and a flat tire! Yes itโ€™s stressful at first but once you learn those things, it opens a door to lots of other basic things you can learn to do on your own! Independence is a great thing to have. But most importantly if your building a car or truck, aways remember it takes time. โ€œRome wasnโ€™t built in a day.โ€ Itโ€™s taken me years to get my truck to look decent, I donโ€™t claim itโ€™s a show piece or anything like that. Itโ€™s been owned by a grandpa before I got it. So yes itโ€™s still a farm truck and occasionally but rarely gets put to work since Iโ€™ve owned it, but Iโ€™m proud of it :)

... Read moreHey everyone! I totally resonate with the feeling of having your truck be more than just a vehicle โ€“ it's a huge part of your life story, right? It's awesome to hear about your journey with your Dodge Ram 2500; it truly sounds like a partner in crime through all your milestones! Let's dive a bit deeper into some of the things you touched on, especially what it means to be a 'truck girl' in today's world. I know we've all heard the comments, whether it's the 'you're doing it for attention' jab or the classic 'what does a truck say about a woman?' type of judgment. For me, owning a pickup truck, especially a powerful one like a Dodge Ram, is about practicality, capability, and absolute freedom. It's not about proving anything to anyone, but about having the right tool for the job, whether that's hauling gear for a weekend adventure, helping a friend move, or just enjoying the commanding view of the road. It totally crushes the old 'Dodge Ram driver stereotype' that it's only a guy thing. Speaking of making your truck truly yours, I love that you mentioned your truck has 'lifted with chrome wheels'! That's exactly how I feel about personalizing my ride. It's not just about flashy add-ons; it's about making your truck reflect *you*. Whether it's adding some 'wides' for that aggressive stance, choosing specific interior accessories, or even just the type of air freshener you hang (yes, even those small details can symbolize your style in truck culture!), every choice makes it uniquely yours. I've seen some amazing "feminine trucks" that are still incredibly capable workhorses, proving you don't have to sacrifice grit for style. It's all about finding that balance that screams 'you'. That 'CAN'T HIDE MONEY' plate you mentioned in the OCR? It just adds to that confident, personalized vibe! And let's talk about independence! Learning basic maintenance like changing your oil or fixing a flat is just the beginning. The confidence you gain from understanding your vehicle is incredible. I've started watching YouTube tutorials for even simpler things, like checking brake fluid, topping up coolant, or even replacing a headlight bulb. It feels so empowering to not have to rely on someone else for every little thing. It's definitely stressful at first, but each small victory makes you feel like you can tackle anything. Itโ€™s not just about saving money; itโ€™s about true self-reliance. Finally, finding your tribe of 'truck girls' or 'women who drive pickup trucks' is such a game-changer. There are so many online communities and local groups where we can share tips, laugh about common experiences, and support each other. Itโ€™s inspiring to see so many women embracing the 'truck life' and showing that these powerful machines aren't just for one gender. Itโ€™s about the spirit of adventure, utility, and making your own way. So, if you're a girl dreaming of a truck, go for it! Embrace the journey, make it your own, and don't let anyone tell you it's not for you. You're not just driving a truck; you're driving your independence.
