... Read moreItโ€™s truly hard to pick just one favorite state, especially after all the incredible summer travels Iโ€™ve had! But if I had to narrow it down, Illinois and Massachusetts consistently steal my heart. Since you asked about my top picks, I wanted to dive a little deeper into why these two states mean so much to me and what makes them fantastic destinations for any traveler. Letโ€™s start with Illinois. Having grown up there, it holds such a nostalgic charm. Every time I go back, Iโ€™m reminded of its incredible energy, particularly in Chicago. The city skyline against the backdrop of Lake Michigan is truly breathtaking, especially when you see it from a distance, perhaps even from an airplane window if you're lucky! Thereโ€™s just something about that vast body of water meeting the towering architecture that feels uniquely American. Beyond the iconic landmarks, Chicago boasts a world-class food scene, from deep-dish pizza to Michelin-starred restaurants, and a vibrant arts and culture landscape. Whether it's exploring the Art Institute, catching a Cubs game, or just wandering through Millennium Park, there's always something new to discover. Itโ€™s a state that offers both the bustling excitement of a major city and the serene beauty of its rural areas, making it incredibly diverse for different types of trips. Then thereโ€™s Massachusetts, and specifically Boston, which completely captivated me on my recent visit. My summer trip there was genuinely unforgettable. Boston has this incredible blend of rich history and modern charm. Walking the Freedom Trail, you feel like you're stepping back in time, while the contemporary dining and shopping scenes keep you firmly in the present. I loved exploring the historic neighborhoods, enjoying fresh seafood by the harbor, and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. The cityโ€™s walkability is a huge plus, allowing you to stumble upon hidden gems and picturesque streets effortlessly. The coastal beauty of Massachusetts is also a major draw, offering stunning beaches and charming seaside towns just a short drive from the city. It truly felt like such a perfect destination for summer adventures, with so much to see and do. Both Illinois and Massachusetts offer such distinct experiences, yet they share a common thread of rich history, diverse culture, and fantastic culinary scenes. While Illinois offers the vastness of the Midwest with its dynamic urban hub, Massachusetts provides a quintessential New England experience with its colonial roots and beautiful coastlines. Itโ€™s these unique qualities that make them stand out in my mind. So, out of all 50 states, these two are definitely my all-time favorites, each for their own special reasons and memories. But Iโ€™m curious, Iโ€™d love to #letschat about it with you! Which one is your all time favorite, and why does it resonate with you? Share your thoughts below โ€“ I can't wait to hear them!
