... Read morePainting for over 15 years has taught me invaluable lessons about patience, practice, and progress. When I see someone new trying their hand at painting, especially during a fun paint and sip event, I’m reminded of my own beginnings and how much I’ve grown since then. It's common for beginners to look at more experienced painters and feel their work doesn’t compare. However, every painter’s journey is unique, and improvement comes with time and confidence. Encouragement plays a huge role—when people say things like "Please tell her that for her first time she did good," it can boost a beginner's motivation tremendously. From my experience, focusing on the process rather than just the final piece helps new painters enjoy the experience more. Experimenting with colors, brush strokes, and techniques in a relaxed environment is part of the joy. I also find that attending group sessions like paint and sip events offers valuable social support and inspiration. For those just starting, I recommend embracing mistakes as part of learning. No two paintings are alike, and your unique style will develop naturally over time. So if you’re new to painting, take pride in every brush stroke and don’t compare your early attempts to seasoned artists' works. Every masterpiece began as a first try!
