When I first started this project, I was really diving deep into the "Edgar Cuh" aesthetic and wanted to see how it would translate to iconic characters like our favorite plumbers. It's not just about a haircut; it's a whole vibe! For those unfamiliar, the 'Edgar Cuh' style, often associated with 'Los Takuaches Bros,' is a distinct look that blends streetwear fashion with Hispanic culture, characterized by specific haircuts, clothing, and overall swagger. It's become a huge part of meme culture, and I've seen so many hilarious takes, from 'no quema cuh Spongebob' to even 'toad cuh meme' renditions. I thought, why not give Mario and Luigi that same treatment? When it came to designing the 'edgar cuh outfit' for Mario and Luigi, I had to think about their classic attire and how to infuse it with the Takuache aesthetic. For Mario, I imagined a sharper, more modern take on his overalls, perhaps with some fresh streetwear elements and a clean fade. Luigi, being the taller, lankier brother, got an even more exaggerated style, maybe with a more pronounced 'Edgar' haircut and a slightly oversized, yet stylish, jacket. The goal was to make them instantly recognizable but with that undeniable 'cuh' twist. The process of 'cuh edgar drawing' this piece in Procreate was a blast. I spent a lot of time on the details, from the precise lines of their haircuts to the textures and folds of their new outfits. It's amazing how a few stylistic changes can completely transform a character's personality.
