Ember & Oak Prime 🥩👩🏾‍🍳

Memphis
2025/1/15 Edited to

... Read moreHey foodies! I recently had the most incredible dining experience at Ember & Oak Prime in Southaven, MS, and I just had to share it with you all. If you're looking for a place that truly elevates the steakhouse experience, this is it. From the moment I stepped inside, the ambiance was just perfect – think sophisticated yet inviting, with dim lighting and comfortable seating that makes it ideal for a special occasion or a romantic date night. The warm, rich decor, with touches of 'oak E M R' aesthetic, really sets the mood. Now, let's talk about the food! As the name suggests, their prime steaks are the absolute stars of the show. I opted for a perfectly cooked ribeye, and it was hands down one of the best I've ever had – tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. My dining companion chose the filet mignon, which was equally exceptional, practically melting in your mouth. They really know how to prepare their cuts, whether you prefer it rare or well-done. But it's not just about the steak; their menu offers so much more. We started with some delicious appetizers; the calamari was a standout – crispy and flavorful, not greasy at all. Their house salad was fresh and perfectly dressed, a nice lighter option before the main event. For sides, we went with the classic creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes, both of which were rich and satisfying compliments to our main course. I also noticed they had some intriguing seasonal vegetable options that I’d love to try next time. The drink menu is also worth a mention. They boast an impressive wine list, with selections that pair beautifully with their prime cuts, and a cocktail menu featuring both classic and inventive drinks. I enjoyed a perfectly crafted Old Fashioned that really hit the spot. What really made the evening special was the impeccable service. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations, from wine pairings to dessert choices, and ensuring our glasses were never empty. They were attentive without being intrusive, making us feel truly pampered throughout the meal. The pace of service was also spot-on, allowing us to savor each course without feeling rushed. While Ember & Oak Prime is definitely a splurge, it's absolutely worth it for the quality of food, service, and atmosphere you receive. This isn't your everyday dinner spot; it's somewhere you go to celebrate a milestone, to treat yourself to an exquisite meal, or to impress someone special. I'd highly recommend making reservations, especially if you're planning to go on a weekend, as it can get quite busy. The location is convenient in Southaven, and there was ample parking available, which is always a plus. If you live in or are visiting the Memphis/Southaven area and are craving an unforgettable meal, particularly a fantastic steak, Ember & Oak Prime should be at the top of your list. It’s more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience that leaves you wanting to come back for more. I'm already dreaming about my next visit!

Tantrum Tuesdays
Most of us were raised to think tantrums = bad behavior. But in reality? They’re the body’s stress response — not a choice, but a sign the nervous system is overwhelmed. When your child is mid-meltdown, reasoning, lecturing, or punishing won’t work- their brain literally can’t process it. What

When kids “don’t listen,” it’s rarely about defiance, it’s about regulation. A child’s brain literally can’t process instructions when they feel unsafe, unseen, or overwhelmed. The goal isn’t perfect listening, it’s to create conditions where listening can happen. Start with safety, add connec

What to do when calm down strategies stop working
When calm-down tools stop working, it’s not a parenting failure, it’s a nervous system one. Once the HPA axis (the stress system) fully activates, the thinking brain goes offline. Your presence becomes the regulation tool. This is why co-regulation beats correction every time. Regulate first,
