... Read moreOkay, so I've been absolutely obsessed with Tetris 99 lately, especially the Team Battle mode! When I first heard about a battle royale Tetris, I was skeptical, but trust me, it's a total game-changer. It takes the classic block-dropping fun and throws 98 other players into the mix, all vying for that "one winner" spot. But Team Battle? That's where things get really interesting, and honestly, it's become my go-to for some quick, intense fun on my Switch. In Team Battle, it's not just about your individual skill anymore; it's about synergy with your squad. You're split into four teams, and the goal is for your team to be the last one standing. This means every line you clear, every opponent you target, contributes to your team's overall strength and survival. I remember my first few matches, I was just trying to survive, sending garbage lines randomly. But then I realized the power of working together! When you're on a team, you share incoming garbage lines, which means if your teammates are doing well, it can actually help you stay afloat. It's such a cool twist on the usual every-player-for-themselves dynamic. My biggest tip for anyone diving into Tetris 99 Team Battle is to pay attention to your targeting strategy. You can switch between targeting options like 'K.O.s' (to finish off weakened opponents), 'Attackers' (to fight back against those sending you garbage), 'Badges' (to target players with lots of K.O.s for their badges), or 'Random'. I usually start with 'Attackers' to clear my board, then switch to 'K.O.s' once I see some red warnings pop up on other players. Collecting badges is super important too, as they multiply the garbage lines you send, making you a real threat. It’s a constant dance between offense and defense, and it feels incredibly rewarding when your team pulls off a win! Another thing I've learned is not to be afraid to play defensively when needed. Sometimes, your board gets really messy, and you're just trying to clear lines to stay in the game. That's totally fine! Your team is there to back you up. And when your teammates are sending out massive attacks, you can almost feel the collective effort pulling you towards victory. It's a fantastic feeling when you see the final 'GAME OVER' screen and your team's color is the only one left. It's a truly unique spin on competitive gaming, and the fact that it's free to play if you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership makes it an absolute must-try. Seriously, if you haven't given Tetris 99 Team Battle a shot, you're missing out on some seriously addictive fun!
