At a small village, there was an old man who raised only a few chickens. One day, he found a "golden egg" in a chicken nest. Everyone was thrilled and advised him to hurry to sell it to be rich, but the old man instead said,

> "God has given us this, that we may use it according to our will, not according to our own will."

Instead of selling it, he took the egg and gave it to the most needy family in the village. They burst into tears with appreciation. The next day, the same chicken gave out the golden egg again, and the old man always gave it to the needy.

As the years passed, the villagers knew him as a "faithful man of little things" until one day before his death, he said softly,

> "True happiness, not more possession, but faithfulness and sharing the will of God."

Jesus said,

> "He that is faithful in little things is faithful in great things" (Luke 16: 10).
