"For those who are about to perish see the cross as foolish, but we who are about to be saved see it as the power of God" (1 Corinthians 1: 18).

Lesson summary

The world views the cross as defeat, weakness, and stupidity, but God reveals that the cross is the power of salvation, that destroys the power of sin, reconciles with God, and gives eternal life to believers.

Paul then proclaimed Jesus Christ the Crucified as the center of the gospel, not on human rhetoric, philosophy, or wisdom, because nothing can change the heart as the love shown on the cross.

The cross is therefore the dividing line of mankind. Those who reject it are illogical, but those who accept it by faith will find that the cross is power, wisdom, and the only hope of salvation.
