Fishing at Puerto Real, Cabo Rojo, PR

Travel Guide

📍 Location : Puerto Real, Cabo Rojo- Puerto Rico

🗺️ Description: Charted Fishing trip on the Western/ Southern Coast of Puerto Rico with Fish Slayer! This is a 4-5 hour closer to shore fishing trip. Don’t be fooled we are not in shallow waters! This is my second time on this boat and it was fun, informative, and as always we caught a lot of fish! 6 people Max! The restaurant on the pier cooked fish bites and fish tacos with our finds and they were Yummmmmy!

💸 Price Range: $$$ Depends on the type of trip deep sea or closer to shore, hours, season, etc.

⭐️ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

👀 Tips: Bring a Rash Guard, Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Water Shoes, Towel, and Lunch (Water, Water, Water) Have your Items in a Waterproof Bag if possible!

Pros : Great Time, Fun, Tour Guides speak English*, Safety is always key and the company is very Professional but Relaxed which makes for an enjoyable day! The views are always worth it even if you don’t fish!!! It’s worth the experience.

Cons : Limited Parking, The tour company doesn’t provide refreshments or snacks, and the fishing is a bit controlled because the Captain trolls all the lines/ poles so you can’t cast but you do get to reel in the fish! Cabo Rojo #puertoricotravel #Lemon8Diary #puertorico #travel #traveltips

... Read moreBeyond the thrill of catching a barracuda with Fish Slayer, my trip to Puerto Real, Cabo Rojo, opened my eyes to so much more this vibrant region of Puerto Rico has to offer. It's truly a destination that combines adventure with serene beauty, making it perfect for anyone looking for an authentic Caribbean experience. Stepping onto the docks at Puerto Real marina, you immediately feel the local energy. It's not just a departure point for fishing charters; it's a hub of activity. I loved seeing the colorful boats, and even swung by a local 'Bait Store' (just like the one in the photos!) to grab some last-minute essentials. The marina itself is picturesque, a perfect spot for an evening stroll, watching fishermen bring in their daily catches, or simply enjoying the ocean breeze. It really gives you a sense of the local life and why the 'Puerto Real marina' is so central to the community. While the fishing was incredible, Cabo Rojo is also famous for its stunning coastline. If you're looking for the 'best beaches in Cabo Rojo Puerto Rico,' you're in luck! Just a short drive from Puerto Real, you can discover hidden gems like Buyé Beach, known for its calm, clear waters and vibrant atmosphere. For couples, it's an ideal spot for a relaxing afternoon. Another must-see is Los Morrillos Lighthouse and the accompanying cliffs – the panoramic views are absolutely breathtaking and make for unforgettable photos. It’s certainly one of the top 'things to do near me' if you're in the area, and makes Cabo Rojo a 'best place to visit in Puerto Rico for couples'. And let's talk about the food! After a successful day on the 'Fish Slayer', nothing beats fresh seafood. The 'fish tacos' we had right on the pier were out of this world – a true taste of local flavor. Puerto Real and the wider Cabo Rojo area boast numerous eateries where you can savor local delicacies. From casual beachside shacks to more upscale dining, there's something for every palate. Don't miss trying mofongo or freshly grilled fish caught that very morning. The abundance of fresh fish here is a testament to why this is a marine area 'eagerly visited by fishermen due to fish abundance'. For those wondering about 'things to do near me' or 'best place to visit in Puerto Rico for couples', Cabo Rojo offers a unique blend of adventure and relaxation. It's not just a marine area 'eagerly visited by fishermen due to fish abundance' (which it certainly is!), but also a cultural hotspot with friendly locals and a laid-back Caribbean vibe. Whether you're exploring the salt flats, kayaking through mangroves, or simply unwinding by the water, every moment here feels like a true escape. To make the most of your trip to 'Cabo Rojo Puerto Real', I recommend renting a car to explore the surrounding areas easily. Pack light, but definitely include reef-safe sunscreen, a good hat, and a camera to capture the stunning scenery. You'll find that the charm of Puerto Real extends far beyond its fishing opportunities, making it a truly unforgettable adventure.
