Jamaican bulgar porridge

Ingredients

* 1 cup bulgur wheat

* 3 cups water

* 2 cups milk (whole milk or evaporated milk)

* 1 cinnamon stick or 1 tsp cinnamon

* ¼ tsp nutmeg

* ¼ tsp salt

* ½ tsp vanilla

* ¼–½ cup condensed milk (to taste)

* 2 tbsp brown sugar (optional)

Instructions

1. Wash the bulgur lightly with water.

2. In a pot, add:

* bulgur

* water

* cinnamon stick

* salt

3. Boil on medium heat for about 10–15 minutes, stirring sometimes, until the bulgur softens.

4. Add milk and lower the heat.

5. Stir in:

* nutmeg

* vanilla

* condensed milk

* sugar if using

6. Simmer another 5–10 minutes until thick and creamy.
