... Read moreWhen I first tried making these simple burger buns, I was amazed at how easy and rewarding the process was, especially since I avoid milk and eggs in my diet. The recipe uses only a handful of pantry staples, which makes it convenient for anyone wanting fresh buns without any animal products. One tip I learned is to be patient with the yeast activation step; letting the mixture sit until it's foamy really helps the dough to rise well. I also found that kneading the dough for about 8 minutes until smooth is key to getting a nice texture. If the dough feels sticky, sprinkling a bit more flour prevented it from sticking to my hands without making the buns tough. For shaping, dividing the dough into 6 to 8 equal balls worked perfectly, and flattening them just slightly helped them bake evenly. The second rise of 30 minutes is crucial—it allows the buns to become soft and fluffy. Before baking, brushing the tops with a little oil added a beautiful golden color, while sprinkling sesame seeds gave them a nice crunch and extra flavor. After taking them out of the oven, brushing again with oil kept the buns soft and fresh longer. These buns are incredibly versatile. I’ve used them for classic veggie burgers, pulled jackfruit sandwiches, and even as a base for homemade sliders during get-togethers. The texture is soft yet sturdy enough to hold hearty fillings. If you want to experiment, you can easily add herbs like rosemary or garlic powder into the dough for flavor boosts. Also, swapping all-purpose flour for whole wheat flour adds a nutty taste, though it may alter the rise slightly. Overall, this no-milk, no-egg burger bun recipe is a staple in my kitchen now. Whether you’re vegan, allergic, or just looking for a simple recipe, it yields delicious results that everyone can enjoy.
