In my experience dealing with codependent relationships, I’ve found it incredibly freeing to recognize the subtle ways codependency seeps into daily interactions. Often, it’s not blatant but shows up as anxiety when trying to maintain harmony or caretaking beyond healthy limits. For example, I used to over-explain my feelings hoping others would understand and not get upset, but it only increased my anxiety. Managing other people’s emotions by constantly trying to soothe or fix their moods became exhausting, and eventually, I realized I was shrinking my true self to keep peace. What helped me was learning to ask for emotional safety without fear of being "too much," just like the encouragement Jamie shares in the episode. Setting clear boundaries and acknowledging my own needs helped dismantle the invisible codependency ties. You aren’t "too much" for wanting safety and respect in relationships; it’s vital for healthy, loving connections. Listening to conversations like Episode 13 can empower many who feel trapped in codependent patterns to start prioritizing their emotional well-being while cultivating genuine intimacy.
