Self-care as a mum doesn’t always look long

Sometimes it’s just small things…

in between everything else.

And somehow, it reminds me of what I see in swimming too.

Not every step is about doing more.

Sometimes it’s just creating space to feel comfortable again.

What does your night routine look like these days?

... Read moreAs a mum juggling multiple responsibilities, I’ve found that self-care doesn’t need to be a grand, time-consuming ritual. Instead, it’s often the small, intentional moments that truly recharge me. For example, after putting my kids to bed—a process that sometimes takes nearly two hours—I may forget to even eat dinner. But sitting down with a simple skincare routine or enjoying a light snack feels like a quiet act of kindness toward myself. I’ve noticed that dry, tired skin especially signals when I need to pause and care for myself. Using refreshing toner pads has become a small but significant ritual to soothe my skin and calm my mind. It gives me a brief moment to feel comfortable in my own skin again amid the chaos. This approach to self-care is much like teaching swimming: not every moment is about pushing harder, but about creating a safe, comfortable space where someone can relax and regain confidence. Incorporating such small acts into a night routine can transform how mums feel after a demanding day. It could be as simple as a few minutes of deep breathing, moisturizing your skin, or enjoying your favorite quiet activity. These moments aren’t about perfection; they’re about presence and comfort. What helps me most is recognizing that self-care is flexible—it adapts to how my days look and always fits in "between everything else." If you’re a mum feeling overwhelmed, I encourage you to find your own small moments to breathe and care for yourself. It might not be a long routine, but these little actions can make a big difference in how you feel both physically and emotionally. Remember, self-care is personal and can be as simple as offering yourself space to feel comfortable again at the end of the day.

Always “The Strong One”?
We’ve all learned how to survive — to hold it all together, to be dependable, to show up no matter how tired we are. But somewhere along the way, survival started to look like self-neglect. We became the ones who fix, manage, plan, explain, and forgive — sometimes too quickly, too often, and at
