Not religion — just Jesus.

Religion builds rules.

Jesus builds relationship.

Religion says “earn it.”

Jesus says “I already paid for it.”

Religion often feels like a checklist—pray more, try harder, be better—but the truth is, no matter how much effort we put in, we can never ‘‘earn’’ God’s approval. That constant striving leaves many feeling discouraged and never quite enough. What’s truly liberating is understanding the message that Jesus conveyed: ‘‘It is finished’’ (John 19:30). This means the work of salvation is complete. Instead of focusing on what we need to do, faith invites us to trust fully in what Jesus has done for us. This shift from ‘‘DO’’ to ‘‘DONE’’ transformed my perspective entirely. I stopped striving to prove my worth and began embracing God’s grace. Living in this grace doesn’t mean we stop caring or growing—it means our motivation is different. We grow because of love, not fear or obligation. Jesus builds a personal relationship with us, not a set of constraints. This relationship brings peace and freedom, making faith a source of joy instead of pressure. If you struggle with feeling ‘‘not enough’’ through religious efforts, consider the message of grace. It’s about receiving, believing, and resting in the finished work of Jesus. This has been a cornerstone for my faith, helping me live with confidence and hope rather than guilt and striving. I encourage anyone exploring spirituality to reflect on ‘‘DO vs DONE’’ and embrace the liberating truth that Jesus has already bridged the gap for us.
