Why I Changed My Major
I was originally a visual arts major which was good in the beginning, but as I reached the end of my sophomore year of college I realized that, “Hey I like doing art but on my own time”. So I went to my campus student success office and changed my visual arts major to Public Health Administration and Policy and minor in visual arts because I still love the arts. Will I have to do more years in college…maybe but would I be paid more in the long run…yes. But I still have a long way to go with my career, twitch streaming, cosplays (yes I like anime), and saving up money for my future apartment.
Deciding to change your major can be daunting, but it often opens up new avenues for career growth and personal fulfillment. Many students, like myself, find that their initial choice doesn’t align with their long-term goals. In today’s evolving job market, fields such as Public Health are not only growing but also offer competitive salaries and diverse opportunities. The importance of public health has been highlighted recently due to global events, making it a timely and valuable field of study. Moreover, integrating your passions—such as art in my case—can provide a unique perspective and skill set that benefits your future career. Balancing interests like twitch streaming and cosplay with academic pursuits is part of the journey. Pursuing a dual path can enhance creativity and provide a richer life experience while preparing for the future. Remember, changing your major is a personal decision that should reflect your aspirations and interests!
