date ideas

trying to figure out what you should do for breakfast or dinner??

I’ve created a lil jar with 50+ places to eat, all color coded & labeled! This is a great idea if you and your partner want to try new food spots but can never decide what you want!

You can also make one with activities like movies, cooking together, or going bowling! Should I make one of those next?🤔 #easydateideas

... Read moreMy partner and I used to spend forever trying to decide where to eat for our dates. It felt like we'd cycle through the same few spots, or just give up and stay home. Sound familiar? That's exactly why I decided to create my own food date jar, and let me tell you, it's been an absolute game-changer for keeping our date nights exciting and full of delicious discoveries! Making the jar was super simple. I grabbed a cute mason jar, some colorful slips of paper, and a few markers. The key was to categorize our food ideas so we could pick based on our mood or what kind of meal we were craving. I used categories like 'Breakfast/Brunch,' 'Lunch/Dinner,' 'Fast Food,' 'Sweets,' and 'Coffee/Smoothies.' This really helped us diversify our choices and never feel stuck. For the 'Breakfast/Brunch' slips, we brainstormed all our favorite local cafes, pancake houses, and even some fancy brunch spots we'd been meaning to try. 'Lunch/Dinner' got the most slips, ranging from our go-to comfort food restaurants to new cuisines we wanted to explore. For example, we'd add specific places like a lively steakhouse similar to Texas Roadhouse, or a charming Italian bistro, or even a 'food truck rally' idea. It’s a great way to ensure we’re not just hitting the same old spots! When it came to 'Fast Food,' yes, sometimes a quick, no-fuss meal is exactly what you need on a busy weeknight date. For 'Sweets,' we listed everything from our favorite ice cream parlor to bakeries with amazing pastries or even just a simple 'dessert at home' idea. And for 'Coffee/Smoothies,' we made sure to include both our usual coffee shop and new spots to try for a lighter, more relaxed date. But our food date jar isn't just about eating out! We also included ideas that involve food but are more activity-focused. Think 'cooking a new recipe together at home,' 'having a picnic in a scenic park,' or even visiting a farmer's market to pick out fresh ingredients for a meal. You could even look for a 'date ideas garden' if there’s a botanical garden nearby that has a cafe or allows picnics – it adds a beautiful backdrop to your meal! We even have slips for 'make your own pizza night' or 'sushi rolling class.' My biggest tip for making your own food date jar a success? Keep the ideas varied in terms of price point, cuisine, and formality. That way, no matter what you draw, it feels exciting and fresh. We also added a few 'wildcard' slips, like 'try something completely new!' or 'chef's choice!' to really push us out of our comfort zone. And, just like the original article suggested, don’t be afraid to mix in pure activity slips too – a 'movie night' or 'bowling' can always be paired with a simple food choice from the jar. This food date jar has truly transformed our date nights from indecisive scrolling to exciting, spontaneous adventures. It takes all the pressure off and makes every date feel special. Seriously, give it a try – you won't regret it!
