Pook Pook, ep. 2
The sound of a pickup truck parked completely in front of the house, causing the backpack sitting on the bike to look up. A small figure in a white T-shirt and jeans stepped down and dragged a large suitcase.
"Pukpek..." the backpack gently called the name, as if afraid that if it was too loud, the front image would disappear.
You turned to look, smiling broadly, as you haven't seen for a long time. "Pee ~ I don't think I'll see you at home."
"Back since when?"
"Just arrived... well... we broke up with our girlfriend." Pukpek's tone was sad but tried to force a smile.
The backpack was quiet for a moment, and some feelings hit the chest, but he chose to swallow all the questions. "Come in and sit down. Give me some water."
That night it rained heavily. The whole village went out. The house of Pukpek closed quietly because the parents were not going to the province. They couldn't enter the house because they didn't tell their parents before they returned. The backpack volunteered to unload the goods into their house next to Pukpek first. And let the younger come to sleep at their own house. After packing, the backpack took the flashlight and added blankets.
"You can sleep here. It's raining so hard. You'll be sick."
Pukpee flunked, but finally nodded and sat in his backpack's living room. The light from the candle shone the shadows of their faces closer together than ever.
The sound of rain, the sound of the heart, and the ununcomfortable silence, made the atmosphere different... like some walls were starting to fall.
"Pe..." Puk Pik said in a loud voice, "I'm with you... I feel safe."
"If you feel that way... stay together for a long time."
"You're always ready to be a safe space."
The words are like some meaning that Pukpek hasn't solved yet... but the heart is beating harder.
