... Read moreHey Lemon8 fam! So, I finally made it to Wilstem Wildlife Park, and I just had to share my full review with you all. If you've been wondering if it's worth the trip, especially for that famous giraffe encounter, keep reading! My visit started bright and early, and I was so excited to finally meet some giraffes up close. The best part? The giraffe feeding experience! It was absolutely incredible. Standing on the elevated platform, getting to hand-feed these majestic creatures was a dream come true. You can purchase food buckets, and trust me, they come right up to you! Their tongues are surprisingly long and gentle. It’s definitely a photo opp you won’t want to miss. I spent ages just watching them, and it felt so personal and unique compared to other zoos or parks where you often see animals from a distance. If you only do one thing at Wilstem, make it this! It’s truly an unforgettable interaction. Beyond the giraffes, Wilstem offers a lot more wildlife fun. We also did the drive-thru safari, which was a fantastic way to see a variety of animals like zebras, bison, watusi, and camels roaming freely in large enclosures. It felt like a mini-adventure right from your car! For those looking for even more hands-on experiences, they also have sloth encounters, kangaroo encounters, and even an elephant experience, which all looked amazing, although I didn't get to try everything this time. It feels less like a traditional zoo and more like an interactive animal sanctuary, focusing on up-close and personal experiences. The grounds are well-maintained, and it's clear the animals are well cared for. Now, for some practical tips if you're planning a visit to Wilstem Wildlife Park. I'd highly recommend booking your tickets and any special encounters (like the giraffe feeding) online in advance, especially during peak season or weekends, to avoid disappointment. The park can get busy, so arriving early is a good idea to make the most of your day before the biggest crowds arrive. Wear comfortable shoes, as there's a fair bit of walking between different areas and encounters, though you can also drive through certain sections. They have snack bars and a gift shop, but you might want to pack some water and small snacks, especially if you have kids or plan to spend several hours there. Restrooms are available and clean. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions about the animals and ensure everyone had a great time. Overall, my experience at Wilstem Wildlife Park was fantastic. It's a truly unique place where you can get incredibly close to wildlife in a responsible and educational way. If you're looking for an unforgettable animal adventure and want to create some amazing memories, I definitely recommend adding Wilstem to your itinerary. The giraffe encounter alone made the whole trip worthwhile, and I'm already planning my next visit to try out some of the other animal encounters!
