1st time GUMBO (single person household)
Hey guys so I made gumbo for the VERY first time yesterday. This is how it went, I originally messed up 3 times so this recipe is 🤌🏽😋. Here’s everything I used.
1. Start by preheating your over to 375.
2. Clean your chicken and season it throughly. You want it to change colors. Then put it in the oven.
2. Slice up your sausage then sauté your sausage and veggies in the pot. Season this with the same seasons from your chicken, except the ranch season. Sauté until sausage has a crisp around the edge and til veggies are soft.
3. Make the roux using the roux mix according to the directions on the back. *this is where things got sticky. (Only put about 1.5 cups of roux in the pot, fill the rest with chicken broth) stir well.
5. Shred your chicken and add it to the pot.
4. Season again using the same seasons, without the ranch season ofc. Add cayenne pepper, mardigras creole Cajun season, &&Tony sanchers more spice.
5. Taste roux, may be a tad salty so add water if needed.
6. Add frozen okra.
7. Season the shrimp, &&put it in the pot.
8. Cook your jasmine rice.
9. Plate it up and enjoy.
I used club crackers instead of French bread and let me tell you it’s AMAZING.!!!

Making gumbo for the first time can be an exciting culinary adventure, especially for those living alone. This recipe simplifies the traditional process, ensuring that even beginners can enjoy this delicious and hearty dish. Here are some key ingredients you'll need: chicken, turkey sausage, shrimp, and seasonings like cayenne pepper, creole seasoning, and a roux mix. A roux is a mixture of fat and flour, which provides a rich base for your gumbo. Be careful while preparing it, as achieving the right consistency is essential. Many first-time cooks find it helpful to use pre-made roux mixes to avoid common mistakes. Additionally, incorporating frozen okra adds a unique texture and flavor to the dish. When it comes to serving, rice is a staple accompaniment to gumbo. For a fun twist, consider pairing it with club crackers, as they provide a crunchy contrast to the savory gumbo. Don't forget to taste and adjust the seasoning as you go, especially since everyone's preference for spice levels can vary. Finally, after serving, encourage friends or family to share their feedback because cooking is always more enjoyable when shared with others!
