MHA in my style
one of my favorite drawings i’ve done💛 #mha #bakugo #bakugokatsuki #anime #fanart
Hey fellow MHA fans and aspiring artists! I’m so excited to share my Bakugo fanart, which you saw above. Drawing characters from My Hero Academia has become one of my absolute favorite things to do, and I've spent a lot of time trying to really get a grasp on the distinctive 'MHA art style.' It's more than just drawing anime; there's a unique energy to it that I just adore. For me, understanding the MHA art style starts with appreciating its dynamic nature. The artists really excel at conveying movement and emotion. When I approach a character like Bakugo, I always think about his explosive personality. This means focusing on bold, clean lines that give a sense of power, and often exaggerating expressions to really capture that intensity. His spiky, voluminous hair, for instance, isn't just hair – it's part of his aggressive silhouette. I try to make sure every line contributes to that feeling of 'Kacchan.' One key aspect I've found incredibly helpful is studying the official manga and anime art. Horikoshi-sensei’s character designs are incredibly distinctive. I pay close attention to things like eye shapes – MHA eyes are often very expressive and can convey so much without words. For Bakugo, those sharp, red eyes are crucial to his character. I also look at how muscles are defined, how clothing wrinkles, and especially how quirks are visually represented. For Bakugo, thinking about the 'explosion' effect even when he's just standing still helps guide my line work and shading. When it comes to coloring, MHA often uses vibrant palettes and strong, almost cell-shaded shadows that add a lot of drama. I try to mimic this by using clear, distinct light sources and creating sharp contrasts. It makes the character pop and aligns with the action-packed feel of the series. I love experimenting with how different lighting can make Bakugo’s explosions look even more intense. Blending your own style with the MHA art style is a fun challenge. I don't try to perfectly replicate every detail, but rather to understand the core elements and then interpret them through my own drawing habits. It's about finding that balance where the character is instantly recognizable as Bakugo, but you can still see a bit of 'me' in the drawing. This means I might use slightly different shading techniques or a softer approach to certain features, while still retaining the overall MHA vibe. If you're looking to draw in the MHA style yourself, my biggest tip is to practice observation. Don't just draw what you think MHA looks like; really look at the source material. Start with basic shapes, get the proportions right, and then gradually add the details. Don't be afraid to use references! Everyone does. And most importantly, have fun with it! It's a fantastic style to learn from, and seeing your favorite characters come to life through your own hands is incredibly rewarding. Keep drawing, and maybe share your MHA fanart too!
