Hotels for your next JB staycay

hi zesties!

i have two hotels to recommend for your next cross border staycay.

1. Z Hotel

📍Address: 18, Jalan Wong Ah Fook, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000, Johor bahru Malaysia

The best thing about this hotel is its location. It is walking distance from jb custom, citysquare mall and there is a night market nearby as well.

The room is clean and tidy, has got everything you need and a great view from the window directly infront of the bed. There is a car park within the hotel but its abit troublesome to access.

Price wise its around $60+ for weekdays and weekends around a low $100+ which i feel is quite affordable.

nearby must eat food: the famous jb fried oyster but rmb to book in advance to avoid dissappointment!

2. Atelier Hotel

📍Address: 149 & 151, Jalan Sri Pelangi, Taman Pelangi, 80400 Johor Bahru, Malaysia

I kept seeing this hotel popping up on my lemon8 feed so i decided to book it for my latest staycay. Its location is further away from jb custom area, approx 13 mins drive from citysquare mall and 8 mins away from southkey midvalley mall.

The standard king room was clean and neat and i like it that the washing area is outside the bathroom, ample space to blowdry your hair and do your make up! The bed was very comfortable and hair dryer, towels, shampoo and body wash were all provided.

I booked the standard king room from agoda for 2d1n on thurs to friday and it cost $51 only! Its even cheaper if you book direct from the hotel itself (see pic 9) so be sure to save this post to contact their WA directly!

Cons:

• Location is slightly further away

• You have to get water from the corridor

• No carpark within the premises, you have to park along the streets

nearby must eat food: nasi lemak hantu ! the rice was sooo fragrant and the fried chicken omg so flavourful and the chilli was the best thing of all!

Remember to like and save this post and follow me for more jb and sg food recommendations! 😘

For instance, Z Hotel’s proximity to customs and City Square Mall makes it ideal if you want quick access to shopping and local street food scenes, particularly the famous JB fried oyster – but remember to book early to avoid disappointment! Atelier Hotel, while slightly further from the customs area, offers spacious room layouts with thoughtful features like a washing area separate from the bathroom, which I found really helpful for freshening up comfortably. One thing to note is the absence of in-house parking, so it's best to check street parking availability ahead of your stay. Both hotels offer affordable weekday and weekend rates, which can save your budget for the amazing cuisines nearby. Don't miss out on Nasi Lemak Hantu near Atelier Hotel – the fragrant rice and flavorful fried chicken with their unique chili were memorable highlights from my stay. In addition, booking directly through the hotel’s WhatsApp contact can often get you better rates than third-party apps. This insider tip can help you snag the best deal for a relaxing JB staycay. If you love minimalist and convenient accommodations close to key attractions, these hotels are definitely worth considering for your next trip!
