Becoming a Mother was the most amazing thing that could have happened to me ! But with that came losing myself & prioritizing everyone over myself. I’ve come to a point where I now understand I can no longer pour from an empty cup, my family should be receiving my overflow‼️ Can you relate?
You know that feeling, right? As moms, we pour so much of ourselves into our families, often leaving our own cup empty. But just like the original post says, prioritizing self is becoming more and more important to me. My journey to self-care truly revolved around finding time for my skin. It’s not just about looking good; it’s about feeling good, refreshed, and ready to tackle another day. And with two little girls who mimic every little thing I do, I need to make sure I'm setting the best example of self-love and self-respect, and that includes taking care of my physical self. For me, a consistent skincare routine has become my little act of rebellion against the chaos, my daily reminder that I matter. Many of you have asked about how I keep my skin hydrated and glowing, so I wanted to share a deeper dive into my routine, especially focusing on how I moisturize and keep my skin happy. My Morning Refresh: I keep my mornings simple because, let's be real, time is precious! Gentle Cleanse: I start with a refreshing, yet gentle cleanser. Right now, I'm loving one that doesn't strip my skin, leaving it feeling clean but not tight. It's about waking up my skin without shocking it. Hydrating Serum: Next, a good hydrating serum is a game-changer. I pat this all over my face and neck. It feels like a big drink of water for my skin and helps prep it for the next steps. I've noticed a huge difference in my skin's plumpness since incorporating this. Moisturize & SPF: This step is non-negotiable! I use a rich, yet fast-absorbing moisturizer. I focus on really massaging it in, especially on dry areas. Finding a moisturizer that truly locks in hydration without feeling heavy was key for me. And of course, always follow with SPF, even on cloudy days. My Evening Ritual (When the Kids are Asleep!): This is where I get a little more indulgent, if I have an extra five minutes! Double Cleanse: If I've worn makeup or been out all day, I double cleanse. I start with an OR NORMATO OIL cleanser (or similar cleansing oil). It melts away everything – makeup, sunscreen, daily grime – without harsh rubbing. Then, I follow up with my gentle foaming cleanser to ensure my skin is perfectly clean. Targeted Treatment: This is when I’ll apply any specific treatments, like a retinol or an exfoliating acid, depending on what my skin needs that week. Deep Hydration & Sleeping Mask: After treatments, I apply a slightly richer night cream. But here’s my secret weapon for ultimate hydration: a sleeping mask! I've been experimenting with a few, and I’ve heard amazing things about the A'Pieu sleeping mask. Applying a generous layer before bed ensures I wake up to super soft, dewy skin. It’s like an overnight facial without the effort. If you haven't tried one, you're missing out on serious moisture! It’s the perfect way to truly let your skin care for itself while you rest. Making Time for You: It doesn't have to be a 10-step routine every single day. Some days, it's just cleanse, moisturize, and SPF. The key is consistency and listening to your skin. Even five minutes of focusing on yourself can make a huge difference in your mood and how you show up for your family. Remember, we can't pour from an empty cup, but from an overflow!
