As someone who wasn’t sure what I really wanted to do after college and pandemic, I searched for a role like the one I have for about 2 years! These are some tips that landed me here:
1. Tailor your resume to the positions/companies you’re aiming to apply to. Make sure you are highlighting your skills/accomplishments; as someone who jumped around from one industry to the other, it’s important to highlight transferable skills and show that you can adapt to different environments. If you want to WFH, make sure to highlight your attention to detail, and show that you can be trusted to carry out projects with little supervision.
2. Keep your LinkedIn and other professional platforms up to date! Your work history should look consistent anywhere that a hiring manager is able to search for you (also update your picture to be as professional as possible).
3. Apply to jobs you like even if they aren’t listed as fully remote (mine wasn’t) sometimes the hiring team wants to avoid people applying only for the fact that it’s remote so they will advertise it as hybrid or onsite.
4. Reach out to recruiting agencies; almost every job I’ve landed has been through a recruiting agency. This can help you network and get your resume in their system for any opportunities. Don’t be afraid of temp/contract work, as it can most likely turn permanent if you are doing a good job!
