... Read moreYou know how some fashion choices just become instant memes? Like the infamous “socks and sandals” combo? It seems my favorite trending flats, especially when paired with white socks, are falling into that same controversial category for my boyfriend! It’s fascinating how certain shoe styles can spark such strong reactions. My boyfriend isn't alone in having strong opinions, and it makes me wonder why specific types like mesh Mary Janes or woven jelly flats become such a point of contention. Is it nostalgia? Pushing boundaries? Or just a comfort-over-all approach that some just don't understand? Let's be real, the white socks black shoes meme isn't a new concept. It’s got roots in the enduring debate around socks and sandals. For years, that pairing was seen as a major fashion faux pas. But now? It's making a comeback, embraced by high fashion and street style alike. This makes me think: maybe my black mesh Mary Janes with those comfy white socks are just ahead of their time, or perhaps a nod to playful nostalgia from the 90s/early 2000s. I personally find woven jelly flats incredibly comfortable and versatile, especially for warmer weather. They’re practical, easy to clean, and honestly, a bit nostalgic for me. And those mesh Mary Janes? They add a chic, delicate touch to almost any outfit, perfect for a casual day out or even dressing up a bit. The beauty of fashion is that it's subjective. While some might cringe, others (like me!) see the appeal and embrace the comfort. If you're like me and your partner (or friends!) “does not like shoes” you totally love, here's how I approach it. Firstly, confidence is absolutely key! If you feel good, you look good. For mesh or woven flats, try them with cropped trousers or flowy midi skirts to really highlight the shoe. Don't shy away from fun socks – like the ones I love with cute patterns! They add a personal touch and can elevate the whole white socks black shoes vibe from a potential meme to a deliberate, stylish statement. Think of it as intentional styling, not an accident. Plus, the breathability of mesh and the water-resistance of jelly shoes are undeniable practical benefits! Ultimately, fashion should be fun and reflective of your personality. While it's funny to hear my boyfriend's strong opinions, I'm sticking to my comfy, trending flats. What do you think? Are you team “embrace the meme” or “stick to the classics”?

I hate them as well they look like school benches but if YOU like them that’s all that matters.

If your bf doesn't like flats, tell him to stop wearing them. 😂
