seeing if i can make parachute pants cool again 👀

i’ve been hearing people say for a while now that parachute pants are out. i put mine away for a few years but honestly i was never really ready to let them go!

i always really loved parachute pants because i could wear them in the spring & summer & they weren’t too hot.

so, for the sake of trying to bring them back, i decided to style mine again! 🤭

i kept it pretty similar to how i used to wear them by still using a little top & platform shoes. but my style has evolved a bit since i use more accessories now & chunkier shoes!

to be honest i was really feeling this outfit, so i might just have to try to make parachute pants cool again 🤭

... Read moreOkay, so my last post was all about bringing back parachute pants, and I was so thrilled with how my white ones styled up with that black graphic crop top and platform trainers! It really got me thinking about just how versatile these babies are. Honestly, I think a lot of us put them away because we weren't sure how to make them feel fresh again. But trust me, they're not just for the '80s music videos anymore! My go-to is definitely a black graphic crop top, but don't limit yourself! A simple ribbed crop tank can look super chic, or even a delicate lace crop top for a slightly dressier vibe. The key is playing with proportions – the baggy nature of the white parachute pants beautifully balances a more fitted top. It creates such an effortlessly cool silhouette that's both comfortable and stylish. Think about experimenting with different necklines too; a square-neck crop top can add a touch of sophistication, while a simple crew-neck keeps it casual. While I loved my platform trainers for that edgy look, don't forget other shoe options! Crisp white sneakers keep it effortlessly casual, perfect for a day of running errands or a relaxed brunch. Strappy sandals are ideal for summer, adding a feminine touch to the relaxed pants. And believe it or not, a pair of sleek heels or ankle boots can totally elevate the look for an evening out, making the parachute pants feel unexpectedly chic. It's all about how you want to feel and the vibe you're going for! Accessories are where you really make the outfit your own. I added a blue bandana to mine, which gave it a fun pop of color and a bit of a retro flair, but think about chunky necklaces, layered bracelets, or even a cool belt to cinch the waist (if your top is slightly longer). Don't forget a stylish bag – a distressed denim one like mine adds to the relaxed, street-style vibe, but a structured mini-bag can instantly dress up the look. Sunglasses, especially futuristic or oversized frames, also add a lot of personality. For those of you wondering about the '80s parachute pants vibe, I totally get it! They definitely have that nostalgic feel. To channel that without looking like you stepped out of a time machine, focus on modern cuts and fabrics. Avoid overly shiny or crinkly materials unless that's the specific aesthetic you're going for. Instead of a full-on aerobics look, think about incorporating subtle elements like bold colors in your accessories or a slightly oversized blazer over your crop top for a chic, contemporary twist. It's about drawing inspiration, not imitation – taking the comfort and silhouette of the 80s and giving it a fresh, current spin. These pants aren't just for casual days! Throw on a silk cami and some delicate jewelry with your white parachute pants for a dinner date. Or, for a laid-back weekend, pair them with an oversized graphic tee (tucked in or tied) and your favorite sneakers. They're surprisingly versatile for so many different occasions! When shopping for parachute pants, look for a good quality material that drapes well. I prefer ones with an adjustable drawstring waist and elasticated ankles – they're super comfy and let you play with the silhouette. Don't be afraid to experiment with different colors too, though a classic white or black pair is always a good starting point. So, yes, I'm fully committed to making parachute pants cool again! And I hope my little styling journey inspires you to pull yours out of the back of your closet or even try a new pair. It's amazing what a little creativity can do to an 'outdated' trend. Give it a try and let me know how you style yours!
