New Cat Mom 🐈
This is the story about How I, a person scared of cat became a cat mom. I saw this pretty tabby hiding under my car one day. She was very scared and so was I but I felt sorry for her. We live in Texas and it was warm so I started feeding her by setting tuna and water outside by my door. After 2 months of feeding her, I grew the courage to touch her and started bringing her inside.
She didn’t want to be inside too much because I had a rather hyper 3 year old. But she would wait for us to come home and meow to get my attention. Sometimes even walk up to me. I talked to my neighbors to see if she was anyone’s pet, she wasn’t. So I started buying things from the help of an old friend with cats.
So after 2 more months of trying to get her to stay inside my apartment. I saw her stomach getting large and she was pregnant. While pregnant she still didn’t like to stay inside so she was an outdoor/indoor cat. I did a lot of research about pregnant cats. I built a box she can have them in with bath towels and she had her kittens Easter weekend. I brought her and the kittens inside and she’s been inside ever since.
She had a litter of 5, 1 boy and 4 girls. I was successful at finding only 2 of the kittens a home. So that’s how I became a mom of 4 cats and 1 human lol.

Adopting a cat, especially a stray, can be a fulfilling yet challenging experience. Many new cat parents may feel overwhelmed by the responsibility of caring for their feline friends. It's essential to understand a cat's behavior, particularly if they are initially fearful or skittish. Building trust can take time; patience is crucial as you establish a bond. Moreover, new cat moms should be prepared for unexpected changes, especially if their cat becomes pregnant. Knowing the signs of pregnancy and providing proper care during this period is vital. Creating a safe environment for the mother and her kittens is crucial as well. Consider using cozy boxes filled with soft bedding, and ensure the area is quiet and private. It's also beneficial to connect with local pet communities or consult with a veterinarian for advice on spaying and neutering once the kittens are old enough. This can help prevent further litters and promote healthier lives for all involved. Lastly, embrace the journey of becoming a cat mom! Each rescue story is unique, and sharing your experiences with others can provide encouragement and support to fellow cat lovers.
