What Did You Do? by Jeneane O’Riley : Book 2 of the Infatuated Fae Series

5 Stars ✨

Caly (Calypso) awaits a pivotal ceremony in the Seelie Court—one that will grant her the second half of her heart. But while she waits, she’s met with deceit, betrayal, and a price she never expected to pay… all while being haunted by her greatest ghost.

This was a 5-star read for me. So many things caught me off guard, especially the way book one’s slower details became vital in this sequel. The plot twists were frequent but never overwhelming—they made sense, hit hard, and kept me turning the pages.

Mendax is still my favorite character. And Walter? He deserved so much better. I wish we had more time with him because his potential was huge.

Eli left me conflicted. He means well and has a good heart, but he’s smothering and sees the world through rose-colored glasses. In a way, that made him realistic—there are plenty of people who want to believe the best in others so badly, they miss the truth. I really hope he grows from what he learns.

I’m not the biggest fan of Caly. She’s impulsive and lets her emotions lead her into chaos, which frustrated me often. I get that it’s part of her arc, but it made her tough to root for.

... Read moreOkay, fellow bookworms, let's chat more about 'What Did You Do?' by Jeneane O'Riley – specifically, Book 2 of the incredible Infatuated Fae Series! If you're anything like me, you live for a good dark romance steeped in fae lore and fantasy intrigue, and this book delivers on all fronts. I mean, from the moment I picked it up, I knew I was in for a wild ride. It's not just a sequel; it's a deep dive into a world that gets richer and more dangerous with every page. One of the things that truly captivated me about 'What Did You Do?' is how Jeneane O'Riley weaves such an intricate web of deceit and betrayal. Calypso, our protagonist, is on a journey that’s far from easy. Her quest for the missing half of her heart isn't just a physical one; it's an emotional battle against her past and the machinations of the Seelie Court. The book really excels at making you feel the weight of these choices and the high stakes involved. Every twist felt earned, every revelation impactful. It's the kind of fiction that makes you gasp aloud! Now, let's talk about Eli, because I know many of you are curious about his role and what constitutes 'Eli's journey' in this installment. In 'What Did You Do?', Eli remains a complex character, and honestly, he left me pretty conflicted. He’s got such a good heart, always trying to see the best in everyone, but sometimes that optimism blinds him to the harsh realities around him. We see him grappling with his own beliefs and loyalties, and it’s fascinating to watch his perspective slowly shift. He truly means well, but his desire to protect Caly often comes across as smothering, which, while frustrating, makes him feel incredibly real. His arc in this book is crucial for understanding the wider dynamics at play, pushing him towards some difficult truths he absolutely needs to face. I'm genuinely excited to see how he grows from these experiences in future books. And for those looking for a bit more of a 'summary' of what makes this Infatuated Fae Book 2 so compelling, think high-stakes court politics, unexpected alliances, and deep emotional scars that refuse to heal. The enemy to lovers trope is subtly explored here, adding layers of tension and forbidden desire that are just *chef's kiss*. You'll find yourself questioning everyone's motives, even those you thought you could trust. The pacing is fantastic, moving from tense confrontations to moments of raw vulnerability, keeping you completely immersed. What I loved most about 'What Did You Do?' is its ability to build on the foundation of Book 1, making even the smallest details from the previous installment incredibly vital. It’s a testament to O'Riley’s storytelling. If you're a fan of intricate plots, powerful magic, and characters who aren't afraid to make mistakes, then you absolutely need to add this to your TBR pile. Trust me, you won't be bored!
