Rating everything I ate in Bali 🇮🇩
Bali is also known for its vibrant food scene, and I was excited to dive in on my maiden trip! While I didn’t hit up the most hyped spots, I still had some memorable meals—some incredible, some disappointing, and some that left me wondering why I even bothered.
Here’s my honest take on everything I ate in Bali!
1. DiAtas by Art Cafe Bumbu Bali – 10/10 🔥🔥🔥
This was my first and only nasi campur experience in Bali, but it was enough to declare it the best nasi campur ever. 😅😂
🌶️ The sambal belacan? Possibly the fieriest I’ve ever had—it wrecked my stomach, but I have zero regrets.
👍🏻 The food was so damn good that I went back twice, even visiting their main outlet, which has a cooking school.
🍗 On my second visit, I had sate and chicken noodle soup, and wow—the sate was unbelievably good.
🤔 Verdict: If you’re in Nusa Dua, this is a must-visit. Authentic, flavorful, and worth every bite.
2. Garden Café & Salsa Verde (Grand Hyatt Bali) – 3/10 😬
Since I stayed at the resort, I had some in-house meals, and well… they weren’t great.
Garden Cafe (First meal in Bali)
• Service? Great.
• Food? Meh. The chicken was decent, but the nasi goreng was overpriced and forgettable.
Salsa Verde (Italian at the resort)
• Ate here twice, and both times, it was just average at best.
• The “homemade” mushroom pasta? Decent when hot, terrible when cold (clumped together like a twin pea pod).
• The vongole? Turned up green. Didn’t expect that.
👎🏼 Verdict: If you’re staying at the Grand Hyatt, do yourself a favor—order delivery or make the trip out for better food. The in-house restaurants might appeal to non-Asians, but definitely not for me.
3. Nusa By/Suka - Nusa Dua (Bali Collection, Nusa Dua) – 7/10 🍝
A walkable distance from Grand Hyatt (or take the free resort shuttle), this is a good option for Italian food.
• Their pizzas and pastas? Surprisingly good!
• While not as cheap as other places in Bali, it’s way better than Salsa Verde.
🍝🍕Verdict: If you’re craving Italian near Nusa Dua, this is worth checking out.
4. 70 Fahrenheit Koffie CAFE - Jimbaran – 10/10 ☕🥑
Best. Avocado. Coffee. Period.
Stumbled upon this place thanks to glowing reviews, and I’m so glad I did. Not the most Insta-worthy café, but the coffee is DAMN GOOD by Bali standards. The warm, non-intrusive service was a plus.
I kept thinking about this coffee long after my visit. Tried the same drink elsewhere, but nothing else even came close.

5. Bukit Cafe – 8/10 🍅🍝
After a long shopping day and walking through dusty streets, I stopped by Bukit Cafe—and it turned out to be an unexpected gem.
Pomodoro pasta + iced black coffee for only $13?!
The portion was super generous (I could barely finish). The pasta was slightly softer than I prefer but still much better than Salsa Verde. Aesthetically pleasing café but… the flies. They were everywhere. 😩
😰 Verdict: Solid food, good portions, and a nice vibe—just be prepared to swat away flies.
6. The Avocado Factory – 1/10 ❌
The biggest letdown of the trip.
Service? Friendly, but felt fake (probably just aiming for tips).
🥄 Food? LOOKED great in photos but tasted awful.
🥞 Pancakes? Dry. Nothing could save them. Avocado pancakes? More like green-colored pancakes. The avocado wasn’t even ripe?!
Avocado milkshake? So bad that I questioned why I suffered through Canggu traffic to try it.
🪰 Flies? Absolutely everywhere. I spent half the meal swatting them away.
❌❌❌❌ Verdict: Would never return. Wouldn’t even recommend it to my worst enemy.
I might not have visited the trendiest Bali food spots, nor had the most life-changing experiences, but I still had a fantastic time exploring the island’s food scene! Some meals blew me away (shoutout to Bumbu Bali and Fahrenheit 70), while others were forgettable (or outright awful—looking at you, Avocado Factory).
One thing’s for sure: I can’t wait to go back and try more!
